Written and drawn by John McCrea, according to a tweet from John just now...

It was my understanding McCrea's upcoming project was written by Wagner for the prog. Maybe I misunderstood.

Must be something different. He specifically name-checked IDW and said he was writing and drawing.
Nice.
I had a chat with John regarding his 2000AD / Dredd work a few years ago, and he was really enthusiastic about working with IDW again on Dredd (having really enjoyed his stint on Mars Attacks Judge Dredd).
Looks like they finally got round to it (albeit without Al Ewing).
A little more info from FB: whatever it is, it's out March (ish) with an official announcement within the next month.

I'd also seen something he shared on FB for the Prog but more McCrea is always welcome round my way. Has he written anything previously?

Not that I can recall (the wealth of visual gags in
Dicks notwithstanding).

Testify. A massively underrated artist with huge range. Be interested to see how he takes to the typing game.
He did script and art for strips in Deadline. If memory serves, it was a character called Carla Allison, with nice, kinetic b&w art.
(It's possible my ageing brain made all this up, or that was the name of somebody I snogged drunkenly in a Glasgow nightclub. Ah well.)

Indeed he did. That would be some of Stevie's favourite art of John's too.

Well- another reason to pick up back issues of Deadline at some stage.

Great! I like his work in progress posts (here's for Wagner's Dredd).

FUN FACTOID! The Carla Allison strip "Stairs" in one issue, a very slight strip with Carla running down some stairs and avoiding slipping on a banana peel, is my first comic book credit as writer.

...and they say all the great plots have already been written :-P
Which issue was it in, so I can check if I have it / dig it out if it's near to hand when I get home?

Wait, what? I loved that story. I thought John did it. Huge apologies!
I photocopied that so I could put the entire story in sequence on my wall.
In March, IDW is launching another five-week Deviations event, and it's kicking off with a Judge Dredd story where the always amazing John McCrea asks what Mega City One would be like if its toughest lawman had never recovered from that time he was briefly a werewolf.
(Via ComicsAlliance (http://comicsalliance.com/idw-deviations-judge-dredd-werewolf/)...)
Nice.
If IDW did a series of What Ifs - you could say it's been that anyway - then it might spark more interest this side of the Atlantic plunge.

Gah! Sorry I missed these, somehow. Honestly no idea which issue - trout may know!
My contribution was very minor (Oddly I remember it distinctly though' we were at his parents house and he was lost for an idea and I suggested that, really Carla Allison is his chance to show off so he could, literally write a story about anything, plot being unimportant. He had a drawing of Carla and something with strips on it that reminded me of steps and I suggested he could literally have a story where she runs down the stairs - being a chance to show off some crazy angles and wotnot. John added the banana peel to add tension to it...)

So The Marvel Method, huh PJ?
You do realize that puts you on par with Silver Age Stan Lee?

Definitely.
I really like both covers, McCrea's version has a distinctly Tony Luke vibe.
Yeah! Like the sound of that!
Nice tribute to Steve Dillon too and Cry Of The Warewolf was always one of my favourites!
Ok, this looks like fun.
Between this and the recent tributes to Steve Dillon, I'm about ready for Judge Prager to return (again).
It's a full Moon over Mega City 1 that's for sure. Waiting for more Ryan Brown stuff..with bated breathe!
That Ryan Brown is a bit good ain't he.
Looking forward to this (as I have to just about every IDW 2000AD-IP mini).
