I noticed someone on The Ebay selling prog 216 as "1st Rogue Trooper (Preview) Issue" for (GBP) 25 + 17 postage.
This made me squirm as the only thing that's Rogue-ish about prog 216 is the teaser poster on the back cover, which you can see for free both in the Ebay ad for the product and on Barney and right here right now*:

*Feel free to send me 42 quid every time you read this post.
how about $2000 for a fake Bruce Timm sketch on eBay

I particularly like their description:
QuoteLame
Strikes me as counterintuitive if they actually want to sell the thing, and at that price! Maybe it's supposed to be a reverse psychology thing...

Seeing as the image is of a different ebay auction I'm guessing they got defrauded and, probably having no luck with ebay's complaints policy, have resorted to this. Shame they used the 'l' word.

That makes sense.
And apologies for my comment about liking the description, Sheridan! I was amused by the fact they provided a short negative single word description of something they were trying to sell and didn't even think about the connotations of the word they used.
The Rogue Trooper seller also has progressed 228 the first Rogue Trooper story for £90 and other "first appearances of" including Judge Fish, Judge Dredd, Slaine etc.

Seen this guy around for a while. His pricing seems peculiar to say the least. I'm wondering if it's the same guy that had some sort of charity / crowdfunding thing going not long back that seemed a bit vague in its objectives? Possibly I'm thinking of someone else?

Probably hoping someone mistakenly hits that "buy it now" button, similar to when you're spying on someone's Facebook profile and you accidentally add them as a friend!!! :o

Wayhey at last all this comic collecting has paid off - I'm rich see Mamma it was all worth it, it so was....
I note they're all up with the option to "Make An Offer". You see this all the time on discogs.com with records. People speculatively listing stuff at insane prices but allow offers. I've always read it as "I don't really want to sell this but if you want to offer me a silly price then maybe I can be persuaded". Not sure how that works on ebay though given their fee structure. It's free to list on discogs you just pay a % of any sales - last time I listed stuff on ebay it was still pay per listing so it'd seem dumb to list things that you probably won't sell.
I wonder how much of this though is trying to game ebay's algorithms? Similar issues with Amazon IIRC ...

Amazon has an element of automatic algorithms setting the prices though, as far as I know those on eBay are manually set by the seller every time.

Okay that is just weird - there must be some strategy for how this works. I mean unless some folks do think $1000 for 10 boards is a deal as they have sells???
I keep seeing this thread as "Eyeballs". Wonder if I should go to Specsavers?
Only if there isn't a local castle anywhere nearer ...

ok that really doesn't make any sense at all - unless it's some kind of money laundering scam or something. Not sure how they'd make that work in a way that wasn't trivially detectable but I can't see any other explanation either.
As in "Spooksavers"?

He did the same kind of sketch for me for the price of a card with an access code to that digital comic he's involved with (which I can't remember the name of right now). Something like £7.
Technically the sketch was free but I had to pay for the digital comic access code.

There are plenty of content scrapers that will be fooled by such nonsense and inflate collectible prices, I'm sure.
