I life in South Africa and the last physical copy I saw in our newsstands is about 20 years ago. So I went the digital route and the nice thing about this is that every prog since 2003 is available digitally.

Prog / Re: 2000 AD in Stages

This stage of AD I cannot really recall any of the stories. It did not leave any impression on me.  The only thing I can really remember was Big Dave. This was the strip that let to final decision to stop with AD.

Aquila and Blackhawk even share the same look. I loved both these strips and hopefully this is not end of Aquila.

I am still grateful for the little pleasures in life and that is weekly prog. The prog continues its solid, good run.

5/5 prog 😊

Tordel I will suggest to start at No 400. In this issue everything is new like a jump-on prog.

I enjoyed Black Shuck when it was in the prog and I would not mind another series. The only problem is that I felt that the floppy should rather contain older stories than the more recent ran series.

April's solicitations:

I see that Chimpksy will make a return in a five part story (by Niemand and PJ Holden). Chimpksy was one off the best one-off Dredd stories the last few years (prog 2131). Looking forward to this

Chimpsky is making his return in prog 2178 next week. Looking forward to this

I bought this purely that it is Ian Kennedy. I have not read it but anything with Ian's art is a must get.

Alan Moore, naturally, and (I think) John Higgins:

The Last Rumble of the Platinum Horde

I will rate this as one of my best but in more recent ones I will give it to Congested Anima (prog 2149). Not only a great story but some wonderful art as well.

Prog / Prog 2177 – Kneel Before Nimrod
15 April, 2020, 04:03:16 AM
Another good solid prog with a good cover by the cover-master Cliff Robinson.

Dredd – This is another one-shot and what a great little short by Niemand again. Niemand is becoming a great Dredd storytelling droid. Great to see the return of Carl Critchlow. His last work I believe was also on a Dredd story in the 40th Anniversary Special.

Survival Geeks – This is getting better as the story unfolds. This geekdom and nerddom at its best. Googe art is helps driving the story.

Skip Tracer – Still continuing its path. Much better than the previous run of Skip. The story is now really getting into action and Nimrod is starting to ply all his cards.

Aquila – The highlight of the prog yet again. A combination of great story telling with great art. I like the way that history is used to drive the narrative.

Hersey – Cannot say how great Fraser's art is but now the story is also pickup up and we get a clearer picture of what Hersey is trying to do and who some of the villains are.

Has Best of 2000AD been shelved? I don't envy Rebellion, their publishing schedule has been put into disarray. The fact they're managing to get the Prog, Meg and specials out is very impressive.

Read the following post: https://downthetubes.net/?p=116464

A quote out of the post: "Due to the closure of Diamond's distribution network, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the publication of Best of 2000 AD #1, which was due to go on sale on 29th April. This title is postponed until further notice.:
