Ok, so I promise I'm not flagging up every piece of 2000AD art that's for sale on the internet only the ones I consider really interesting, so in that vein...

Ending 9pm tonight (Sunday) are 6 pages (!) of Eric Bradbury art from prog 212 - a complete Future Shock. All details https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/10/6-pages-of-eric-bradburys-2000ad-art-up.html
...you're gonna need a few quid though

I wish the original artists (or their estate) got some sort of kickback when original art sold. I mean I'm sure this was sold for probably less  than 200-300 quid at the time it was sold (in fact it may not even have made treble figures, given what the original art market used to be like)

I think this happens in france ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droit_de_suite - though I;m not sure how it works out in practice)

Anyway, lovely art, hopefully in a good home.

I've never heard of that concept, but it sounds logical and fair. It is repugnant that the huge sums now in original comic art have completely bypassed the artists.

It's definitely a minefield

Witness the Prog 4 MACH 1 thread elsewhere and the Prog 14 Barrie Mitchell Flesh cover, which have been discussed only on the basis of their historical or monetary value, vs the holy grailfind of the final page of Carlos' first Dredd, which has been highlighted as a "stolen/should have been returned to the artist" page.

If Carlos' page should have been (and I supect that's true), then what about all these pages from "lesser" lights (to be fair all lesser than King Carlos!), where that discussion is never had as faras I can see, outside of Bolland's no red signature pages?

I know.  I've always thought that Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso and Michaelangelo were treated incredibly unfairly when you look at what their work goes for today!

Not particularly similar when you consider that many of these comic artists are still living and that their art was, in many cases, stolen. In any case, I don't think we should be judging our ethics by the fine art market, which is equally, if not more, morally bankrupt. And, by the way, operates pretty much as a money laundering scheme.

I've just re-read your reply and I think I misunderstood it. Apologies!
