Other Reviews / Re: Vote. Halo Jones 4. Yes or No?

I think In Halo Jones book 4 she should meet the Space Girls and have an affair with Junker.

Alan loves the idea so much he wants a movie made.

Classifieds / Wanted - Zoids Annual

I want the Zoids annual. Will pay £10 including postage or can offer loads of 2000ad stuff.
Any of the collected specials also wanted.

Its hilarious fun to watch a pre-Zenith Morrison and Yeowell take over a fairly straight sci-fi tale.

In one 6 page episode he introduces Zoid heaven, abandoned factories, wild Zoids and robots having existential dilemmas. there is some blatant terminator / alien lifts but the whole thing is so enjoyable it feels on a parallel with Alan Moores Captain Britain tales.

You can read it all online at blood for the baron zoids

I did for my sins pick up all the individual spiderman and zoids issues. Star wars turns up as a third filler story.

General / Re: Blogging About DREDD All Semester!
19 January, 2011, 04:31:40 PM
I think that you've produced a credible but flawed essay because dredd isn't a superhero even by your critics definition.

He has the same mission as every other judge. In his world he is not a hero and his costume is literally ridiculously complicated (all those chains and pads).

Dredd is essentially a product of a punk Britain. A bovver boy in Doc Martins. the only link to superheros is that he is serialised in comic book form.

Interestingly he is a satire that that went on so long it it has it's own internal logic. The 70 s were a world of black and White, dredd now lives in a grey corporate world and is thinking for himself. Very 2011.

Interestingly he will die the moment Wagner leaves. I bet mega city might continue but he is a Wagner mills creation. Another reason he isn't a superhero.

I love the way pat comes across. He is very generous with his tme and pretty open about harsh criticism. It made me want to re read his recent stuff.

I got the meg. I love liam's dredd, Anderson and death pin-up. But why didn't they issue it as poster? I was annoyed it had type on it.

Liam - any chance you'll do prints of it?

I'd agree with th aove and add that you should look at the completed listing in eBay for similar items.

Some people are unaware that you can do this (you do need to be logged in)

Ends 5pm Friday - don't miss it

Thanks all. I'm leaning towards a sub now as I only get to the comic shop every 3weeks which gives you a feast or famine experience.

I welcome Mark Millar but I'm still committed to Bristol and Bham for the love those organisers put in.

Weird that people are thrilled to be meeting Steve Yeowell and Kev O'Neil when they ahve both appeared at Bristol and Brum respectively.

Millar has definitely attracted huge names back like Brian Bolland - I guess like an American Con it may be a very different experience.

SO PLEASE SUPPORT BRISTOL AND BRUM AS WELL

I'm thinking of getting a sub after 22 years just so more money goes to Matt Smith (not literally). But does having a standing order at LCS raise the profile of Tooth more?

What's your thoughts? Made-up statistics and baloney theories will help me make a decision. Good to see Brendan back on the prog with Staz and Liam Sharp the comic is truley the best outlet for cool Brits tight now...
#659
Yes. I'll post it anywhere!

Glad you all liked the video. And yes it does have the Mark Millar Zenith story - sorry if that takes down its value with the Tooth boarders!!!

I'm selling this to afford progs 30 - 100 so don't beat me up!

here's the link to eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/complete-Zenith-Grant-Morrison-Hardback-2000ad-/230555521561?pt=UK_Books_comics_Magazines_UK_Comics_ET&hash=item35ae2e1219

here's a movie tour of it!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TdO7WL_zJs

it is really nice and tight. Professionally made by a local bookbinder and i showed it off here a couple of years back when I had it made.

By all means get a member of your family to buy it for you! it's got all Phases, interludes and as many extras (tour posters, covers, pin-ups as I could fit in)

It has the whole 'ball bearing' quote on the cover which the bookbinder said he would never ever do again!

Ends 7 days. mat
