General / The Batman Who Laughssssss....
22 August, 2017, 04:27:53 PM
(The usual caveat of an apology if this has been raised before).

There's something familiar about this new alternate/evil Batman that I can't quite put my finger on...

Another CBR link from me even though you knowledgeable lot probably already know about the subject;

I do enjoy reading these comicbook legends - learning about all the back-biting, corporate pressures and conflicts that go into producing  a title.

News / New Titan titles
20 February, 2016, 10:59:04 AM
(The usual apologies if this has been posted elsewhere)

Just spotted these reports on CBR;

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/titan-comics-hammer-films-team-up-line-horror-comics

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/exclusive-new-warhammer-40000-comics-arriving-in-september

Interesting news about Hammer. I have always thought Quatermass was a character/concept worthy of an update or reboot.

Funnily enough, when GW first proposed a Warhammer comic years ago, I submitted a Space Marine script. If my weak and addled brain serves me correctly, I think it was Andy Lanning was the editor at the time. He wrote to me explaining that although he liked the story he had already commissioned a Marine strip from Hilary Robinson the day before! I believe the project fell through soon after and, with changes in editorial and format, they did publish a short-lived comic. (In the early nineties? I am sure you guys can help me on that).

News / The Eagle documentary
18 December, 2015, 06:37:59 PM
There is a repeat of a 2010 documentary on The Eagle and Dan Dare on BBC Radio 4 Extra today. It is repeated several times and available on the radio iPlayer.

It's funny how the Eagle was created as a retaliation against the US horror comics flooding Britain at that time whereas 2000ad and Action were an antithesis against the blandness of US mainstream comics of the day.

Alexander Armstrong's Radio Heroes features The Day The Law Died. There's also the likes of Dick Barton, Space Patrol and The Devil In Amber. You can find it on the BBC radio player.

A great script and direction kept it nice and tight. Kudos too for the make-up and general buzzing itchiness of it all.

General / MCM Comic Con NEC Birmingham Nov 22-23
23 November, 2014, 05:41:29 PM
I took the clan to our first con yesterday and had a great time. I saw the Judges outside and had a quick word with Judge Welsh. I would have liked to chat more but the guys were busy filming.
I had the opportunity to meet Martin Griffiths who had been the artist on my future shock The Mirror way back when. It was great to meet him and chat about the industry and our various projects. He did a quick Wonder Woman sketch for my dear Lady S.
Two fingers must be raised in anger to the idiot who swore at my son to get out of his way. Next time dickhead, don't put your baby in a bloody propose when you know the place is going to be crowded!
On the whole a good day and we're aiming to go the next one in spring.

Games / Surfin' The Meg
06 August, 2014, 10:17:47 PM
Wouldn't it be great if Rebellion made a Chopper game? Imagine zooming around the Mega - Cities, avoiding the law and boing fanatics and the usual Meg madness. It could use motion controls like the Kinect. A kind of Skate meets Dredd.
I'm surprised that Rebellion haven't capitalized on their 2000ad licences. We've had Dredd vs Death, Rogue Trooper and the Dredd vs Zombies games (plus those Spectrum games from yesteryear) so why not Chopper or ABC Warriors?

Events / Memorabilia Birmingham 22 - 23 March 2014
15 March, 2014, 12:06:27 AM
I haven't been to Memorabilia in years and I'm thinking of going next weekend. I've only ever been on the Sunday but there's always the feeling that a lot more goes on the Saturday than the Sunday. Is it worth changing days? The kids will be with us so entertainment/anti-boredom activities are an absolute must.

Games / xbox live problems
16 December, 2013, 07:10:03 PM
Have any you wonderful people out there had any problems with signing in on xbox live recently? The Lad updated his on Sunday and can't now sign in to play online. The console came up the message that his parents would have to sign in online but we still seem to be left out in the cold.

I was so sorry to read this:

Although I haven't read any of his recent stuff, I was a fan of his work, especially on the Hulk. I hope he'll make a full recovery.

News / Internet Pests
03 September, 2012, 09:18:34 PM
The original title for this topic was to be Internet Dick but I don't know if that would be allowed.

This kind of arsehole makes me want to puke:

http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2012/09/mark-millar-others-team-up-to-take-down-online-bully/

Now, I know that Millar doesn't have many fans on this site but you have to agree that he's right on the money here and is at least doing something about dicks like this.

I only hope that the female members of this noble forum have not suffered such sick abuse.
