I love Ultimate Force!
I'm really looking forward to this, looks like a pretty big budget production what with exploding helicopters and whatnot.

Yep. I agree. It wouldn't surprise me if 99% of RTD's motivation for having Cassandra return was to have that 'talking out of your arse' line.

I thought it was OK. I don't really think much to Cassandra as a villain. It seems that RTD is really trying to get his creations to stick as part of Dr Who lore. It seems that the recurring character to episode ratio is pretty high with RTD's characters (Slitheen, Face of Boe, Cassandra, the prime minister woman). I can see why he wanted to have Rose's family in the first series as something for kids to relate to but do we really need to see more of Cassandra in place of creating some more new characters? They could have taken out the Cassandra plot completely and just focussed on the evil cat nurses as villains - to my mind this would have made for a more interesting episode.

Prog / Re: Prog 1484 - The Hitmen & Her.....

Really enjoyed the prog again this week. Dredd was a great one parter. ABC's is always entertaining - I'm just along for the mad ride and to be honest I'm just enjoying the great one liners and bonkers ideas. Low life is always welcome. Lobster is really finding his feet. 86ers seems a little lacklustre some weeks but I think it will read pretty well as whole and it seems like a pretty solid set-up story.

Anyone know what Flint will be woking on at DC? I'd like to see his take on Jonah Hex.

And in today's installment she was standing (in her skimpies, naturally) in front of an old fashioned Bovril poster showing a Victorian woman playing golf!

Maybe this is where Valkyries went wrong? Not enough beef stock!

Has anyone seen the 'Scorer' comic strip in The Mirror lately? It has recently been sponsored by Bovril. Yesterday the main character came home to find his girlfriend lying in her langerie on the kitchen worktop waiting for him in a seductive pose - with a mug of steaming hot Bovril beside her!!! It made me laugh.

(I would like to point out that I don't buy the Mirror but read it in the staff room).

Well Computer Warrior in Eagle was basically a big advert for whatever computer games were big at the time but it was always an entertaining story. Maybe something similar to that - where the story is built around the product would work better than trying to shoehorn stuff into other stories. I think this is something that could be done with games/toys but I don't think you could build an entire story round a can of Red Bull! Maybe a futuristic version of that Red Bull event where everyone jumps off the pier though!

I really enjoyed this months Meg. I thought all the stories were entertaining. Love Koburn, best Dredd for ages, promising start for Black Museum. I quite enjoyed the small press piece, it had nice art and conveyed mood well but it didn't really feel like a story if you know what I mean.
If the scripts and art stay this high quality then ?2.99 is great value in my opinion. Most US comics are over two quid these days and take no longer to read than the single Dredd story in this Meg!

Thanks. I think I'll definitely have to pick up the Wagner/Mills collection. Their seems to be a hell of a lot of decent reprints coming out at the moment it's getting a bit difficult to afford them all. I still haven't picked up case files#2 yet!

Good news. I've really been enjoying the Modesty Blaise collections. I've been meaning to pick up some of the Doctor Who collections but don't know if I can justify the expense. Do they come highly recommended? The only Who comics I've read previously are Abslom Daak.

There's a market stall in Norwich which sells 'natural handmade soap' which comes in big round cakes that you have to buy a slice of. The workers on this stall have recently started wearing T-shirts which proclaim 'THIS IS NOT CHEESE'. Now I'm starting to wonder if it's all some big conspiracy to make people from Norwich smell funny!

Hi DD.

My brother and sister-in-law live in Singapore. They're teachers. Don't know the name of the school they teach in but they live just off some big main street which seems to be pretty famous but I can't remember the name of. I was thinking of coming over for a visit this year if I can scrape the cash together.

I don't know how to make and icon. Apart from that I don't know what I would choose anyway. Maybe a Grant Mitchell in Ultimate Force mode with laser beam eyes.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Seeing those Dredd covers brings back some memories!

I met Steve Dillon in a comic shop in St Albans once and he did me a great sketch of Dredd in about 30 seconds. I say sketch but it looked more like a finished piece of work - really clean and crisp. Nice bloke too.

Glad to see some UF fans on the board!
