Help! / Photoshop Horror!
02 February, 2011, 02:44:14 PM
Allo fellas -

Have googled it but cannot find owt. A PSD file of mine is opening blank (just a flat black background colour) - but it's 'preview' snapshot has it as it was. I do have a backup version but I've done a ton of editing since and I don't want to have to replace unless I've no alternative.

Any thoughts?

Books & Comics / Asshole Wizards: An Anthology

This is something I was part of spawned by the curious http://bobbymono.deviantart.com/ -

You can purchase it absurdly cheaply here - http://www.etsy.com/listing/64863530/asshole-wizards-an-anthology or I'll just cut out the middleman and put up the image I did.

Whey.

Alright chappies. With the appearance of Mr Sharp I thought this thread could act as a database of our favourite droids on Devart. Additionally I just spotted bloody David Millgate on there and felt his account needed a little more attention :P

If anyone isn't aware of this - there's a sketch group on Deviant Art called Daily Sketch Challenge - and recently they've done Kano & Dredd

Interesting to see so many different interpretations of a fairly obscure character.

Creative Common / The OFFICIAL Band-Pimpin' Thread
20 November, 2010, 09:51:39 AM
(btw if the mods can think of a better area of the forum for this I'm completely open to it being shimmied there)

Yes. There's a lot of great bands on this forum - let's round them up.

I'll start with a link to the million-pound video single from my avant garageprog band Dan Shandy and the Shambling Dandies' first record 'Quicker Than Sex'. That's one hell of a sentence.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dvf9bjdB6s&feature=player_embedded#!

Only pimp bands you're directly involved with though eh?

Hello chaps,

Don't mean to bother you at all - but I occasionally read out little things and would like to share my latest adventure with you.

It is about a man called Blake and... well, his egg. Obviously. It says it up there.

You can hear it on Myspace and Facebook and I'd be grateful for the ears.

Ears?

Chears.

Creative Common / The Curious Who Anthology
03 September, 2010, 07:06:52 PM
Hello you superbly gorgeous bunch,

I idea hatched in my mind in the spring and has since taken full dominance over my brain - I want to produce a comic anthology and I want it to be

a - huge
b - insane

Here's the hard sell:

It'll be about Doctor Who.

But not as you know it. A one-off adventure of an alternate Doctor - no canon, no arcs, no melodrama, no familiar faces - as surreal and as a curious as you can make it.

I want one to five pages of nuttery madness from ridiculous writers which I'll then siphon off to willing (and hopefully equally ridiculous) artists to bring into shimmering and vividly silly reality.

The thing will be printed in FULL COLOUR and PROBABLY IN A5 - and then I shall distribute the bitch somehow but I'm CURRENTLY NOT CERTAIN WHERE OR HOW.

PM me or comment below if you're up for it -

It'd be absolutely excellent to hear from any of ye :D

Film & TV / Terry Pratchett's Going Postal
02 June, 2010, 07:57:48 PM
Anyone see this - ?

I watched it this morning and it was very good - very very good. Richard Coyle, Charles Dance, David Suchet, Andrew Sachs - what's not to love?

It was very glossy and there was a brilliant cameo from Pratchett - glorious.

Of course it was on the absurdly obscure Sky One so people shall have to rely on NAUGHTY METHODS (or Sky's digital player) to watch it. I, for one, recommend it. It was a bit of groovy.

G'day everyone,

I'm currently moderatin' a jam group over on Facebook and this week's current topic is DREDD HIMSELF. I'm looking for the MOST original and the MOST ridiculous Dredds people have to offer. I thought I'd advertise here if any of you fancy a go -

There's no competition, no pressure, just psychedelic jamtacular times to be had - !

Cheers for looking, do join in ;)

Hello fellas and ladies and everyone.

I present to you the first part of my 'Crabcake' saga recently re-lettered thanks to Jim Campbell's tutorial.

Firstly I should say that I'm sorry, it's fairly gaudy and a little ugly and I share it with on the pretence that IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I'LL CRABCAKE IF I WANT TO.

Film & TV / Treme

Anyone watching it?

You should be watching it - it's the jazziest funkiest most spectacularly stunning show I EVER DID SEE. It's like The Wire, but with jazz instead of drugdealin'.

Extraordinary watch I recommend it utterly, with all the vague influence I've conjured over the last three days of compound words, late-night-extended-freakouts, self-deprecation, flawed artwork and ending SENTENCES IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO EMPHASISE MY POINTS.

Please do give it a go.

Right.

Okay - I know I'm new (although technically not at all) so sharing big DEEP things is a no no - but I just wanted to get this out to more people. The improv comic Jim Sweeney (was in Whose Line & Comedy Store Players for years) wrote a blog today and its the most humbling, inspiring and profound bloody thing I've read in years. I urge you to read it - nuff said

Welcome to the board / Shakara Returns!
07 May, 2010, 09:13:32 PM
- only with much poorer art and a larger vocabulary.

Hello there. My name was Shakara on these forums many billions of years ago, and I kept coming back and getting vaguely disenfranchised by nothing in particular and leaving again. Like a flippant Doctor.

So - hello to you. I'm not Shakara, I'm Owen - and this year is my tenth with 2000ad - which I started reading AS A YOUNGER MAN. As I'm an aspiring artist (using that in it's broadest possible sense) I was thinking of celebrating it with some kind of series of drawings starting in the summer which is when I first picked it up (Prog 1198 I think)all them moons ago.

So y'know...that. Additionally - I've been reading comics since I could read and trying to draw them almost as long as that and 2000ad is still the most inspiring and consistently brilliant comic there is.
