Sorry to hear that. New York Trilogy is one of those books that left me a bit puzzled but under no doubt that I'd just read a masterpiece.

Another is an autobiographical work that will stay lodged in my brain forever - the only thing I forget is the name but I think it was Hand to Mouth.

Zenith owes Paul Auater a debt, and so, now I think about it, does Grant's Animal Man.

Oh no Paul Auster has passed. Such a brilliant author whose life had been tough over the last few years. He leaves behind a quite brilliant literary legacy.

Plot for Judges tv show: Sov dimension warp technology has been placed inside vacuum cleaners so you "Never have to change the bag!", as everything you vacuum is now sent to a different Earth. Naturally, the people in that dimension have had enough of 1. being TAD-nuked into oblivion years ago and 2. having some dust, random bits of cereal and cat hairs dropped on them.

So is it petty criminals you burn or Presbyterian policemen?
Either way, I'm all for freedom of worship, me.

Quote from: Barrington Boots on Today at 02:03:55 PM...have made an appointment with a private dentist tomorrow for a consultation. It's expensive but I'd only spend that money on comics and records.
I broke a tooth not long ago and hardly noticed except when I spoke. Given that talking above a mutter isn't something I've been doing much of lately, it took a while before the inconvenience became evident.
Then last week I had to give a two-hour lecture, and found the jagged edge of the tooth scraping against the side of my tongue every time I rolled my Rs (which was a bit of a problem, given that the lecture was on the subject of the ragged rascal who ran round the rugged rock).
The dentist sorted me out and left me with a repaired gnasher, a rubbery numb face, and a hole in my wallet a hundred and thirty smackers deep.
I paid up like a weary aristo who's just lost the family fortune at the baccarat table. Then, seeing as I'd already spent so much money, I went and ordered a bunch of whatever Colin YNWA has been enthusing about lately.
Why not? It's only money.

(What's for dinner? Turnip peelings!)

Incorrect. Hoover bags are placed in a vacuum cleaner they don't exist there.

Are you saying that as soon as a hoover bag (the product) is placed inside a vacuum cleaner, the bag ceases to exist? If this were true, no hoover bag would ever fill up with dust because it wouldn't be there while the closed-up vacuum cleaner was running. However, hoover bags do get full of dust and fluff, therefore they do exist inside the vacuum. QED.

Thanks all. Anti-climatically the tooth was not extracted - I was referred to another dentist instead for a possible surgical extraction.

I'm sick of it now and have made an appointment with a private dentist tomorrow for a consultation. It's expensive but I'd only spend that money on comics and records.
