General / Did nineties editorial really get it so wrong?

The longest stretch without a Wagner story in the Prog was the opening of Judgement Day in Prog 786 (which he co-wrote don't forget)

I think 'co-wrote' is a stretch. ISTR John's contribution to Judgement Day was more or less "why don't you do something with zombies, Garth...?"

Cheers

Jim

Jim that's exactly how John describes his contribution to Judgement Day.

The History of 2000ad is the history of Pat Mills.

I'd strongly disagree, Pat created and gave life to 2000AD but in less than a year after its birth left it.
The history of 2000AD is far more than one person.

Any time I've talked to Pat about the past, including the dark ages, his point has always been that the readers supported him and not the editors so I've no idea where this contempt for readers thing has come from.

When I'm back in the UK I'll dig out one of Pats intros to a GN that I think highlights my point.

As a writer it's probably pretty insulting if an editor rewrites your stuff. That's bound to colour opinion of their professional nature

And how many scripts did Mr Mills rewrite during his editorial stint.
Mr Diggle did no more than Mr Mills but as you see by reading any intro to any graphic novel written by Mr Mills editorial didn't get his writing and worse we the reader didn't understand his writing.
Whilst his contribution to the creation of 2000AD can never be forgotten his opinion of the reader of the comic has never in my opinion seemed that great.

That didn't take long to read, only 20 pages long and luckily for Buttonman, they're doing a readers letters page ;)

As known, there were 3 covers, plus a blank sketch variant. What they didn't tell us was there's also a Nerd Block Exclusive Cover, which is a similar thing to what Zavvi does.

I really hate the fact that IDW do so many variant covers.
Thought multiple covers were a thing of the 90's but IDW continue to pump out multiple covers, wouldn't be so bad if the covers were wrapped around anything decent.

One of the best two part Dredds ever.

Off the top of my head it's around where Kraken is dealing with the barman who has chained the exit shut.

Biz knocks one out again for the money, people line up to buy their first Prog in years.
Look at how s the artists labelled as Bisley clones have developed their craft and continued to improve with the passage of time. Yet the one who was once held in such high esteem just gets worse.

During the Kraken assessment were the two pages printed in the wrong order 'Tale Of The Dead Man' graphic novel corrected?

Or try submitting somewhere else.
As Alan Grant once said (paraphrasing slightly) if you're a writer you write for anyone, if you submit just to 2000AD you're a very keen fan.

Whereabouts are you Tankie?
I have huge gaps around those issues so they'd help fill them nicely.

Still IDW could bring us proper Doctor Who/Dredd crossover.

Why the hell would you want that.
IDW do pretty crap Dredd and I'd hate to think what shite they'd do throwing the Dr into the mix.

alt.comics.2000ad before the nutters destroyed it.
The Original 2000AD Message board before it got reborn here and even to some extent that, before it became the pale shadow of its former incarnations.
