Film & TV / The face of Johhny Alpha
18 December, 2005, 11:00:17 PM
I watching some foreign movie the other night called 'Birthday girl'. About something to do with russian  Mail order brides. Anyway, one of the supoorting actors, a frenchman named Vincent Cassell also starring in 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' ( A movie I must see.) & a filthy rich cat burglar from ' Ocean's Twelve '.

I thought his looks were alittle odd, it's all in the placement of his eyes, really. Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed or mentioned this before, but I think he bares a strong if not a remarkable resemblance to Johnny Alpha.

He even has similar hair.

See him for yourselves at:

If there was ever any chance of Strotiuum Dog movie, I think he should be given strong consideration for the role.

Film & TV / Another TV show from the 80's
10 November, 2005, 10:02:34 PM
Two shows actually.

I trying to find a good website with lots of information on the Sci-Fi series called 'Hard Time On Earth'

IMDB.com says it's about some Alien warrior dude who's been sent to Earth to rehabilitate and live as the other inhabitants until he regains enough humanity to return. He's also accompanied by a small floating in mid-air orbular robot whose his parole officer.

There very little stuff on this one. Can't find any official websites or anything with photos even.

The other show I want find more information on. I don't even know the name of, though I do know it screened on telly in the early ninties. It's about a group of cowboys that somehow end up in the present day thru some accidental time travel. The whole series is baout them coming to terms with it all & while still keeping to thier Cowboy way of life.

I just wanna know the name for this one, & perhaps some good websites.

General / Battle Metal

If anyone is fan of 2000Ad, then it is probable that they are a fan of Heavy Meatl/Punk music, though there can be exceptions.

I was in a newsagancy the other day when I noticed one of the Clint Lanely covers of Slaine used in the CD jacket of disc attached to Heavy Metal magazine. Naturally I had to buy the magazine.

As it turns out, the disc in question is, how shall I say some core samples of varient Death or Black Metal music made very poplular in the mid eighties. They call it Battle Metal. Which can contain Celtic, Viking, Goth, fantacy influences. They also had the words 2000AD written on it. So I thought there was chance that these 12 songs were written & dedicated solely to the Slaine Progs.

Well, atleast I was close. This is the second Battle Metal released with this publication and it's not bad. Some of the stuff is very appropiate. The First Track is done by the ever well known Judas Priest. The magazine again is called 'Metal Hammer'.

Look out for it if you are a Slaine fan. Make sure the CD is attached. You should know it by the familar artwork.

Film & TV / BloodRayne

Does anybody know about "BloodRayne" movie being made?

I know it's based on the PSTwo game which had already altered the character, so naturally, the movie version looks as though it's only has fleeting connection to the original comic book character.

From what I have gleamed from their official site.

It would appear that as far as the movie is concerned, she's no longer the Strontium Dog from Milton Keys & it's set in Transylvania, which doesn't sound likely.

Apparently the lady from that last 'Terminator' movie is the vamp, but my choice would be Jennifer Garner, who has the look ( If only you use Mr Ezquerra's artwork as referance.) & the moves.

Well thats my opinion.

Books & Comics / Slaine Graphic Novels
16 September, 2005, 11:07:11 PM
Hi- all,
Though I'm new to this forum, I've been lurking round here for quite awhile.

Being a on and off conniessuer of this publication, I haven't really managed to get my hands on all of the progs. My main interest was Slaine when I first started collecting, though I have developed a fondness for Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, Nemesis & the other regulars.

Lately I have become obsessed with getting my hands on pretty much all of the Slaine Saga. Well all of what happened before 'The Horned God' ( This has been mostly covered in the lately released graphic Novel 'Slaine: Warriors Dawn', barring the 'Dragon-Heist' chronicle.) & most of what happened after it, ( This stuff seems less essential to before 'Horned God') doesn't seem as important right up to ' Slaine: Book Of Invasions '. Which I believe is interesting though untimely as it illustrates the demise of Balor & Niamh, plus the art work is very eye catching.

Now, I have managed to obtain most of those in particular but not all of the them. I have a bit of 'Moloch', most of 'Golamh', all of 'Scota' the last issue of 'Tara' & again most of 'Odacon'.

I have tried re-ordering the missing issues through my local newsagency/comic book store, but they haven't got back to me on that one. I was wondering about the possibility of reprinting that Saga as it's own graphic novel, so many others as well as I, can have a second chance at seeing this full chronicle. I think it would do good in that regard & with all the funky cover art as well.

Pretty please.......

From a loyal reader.
