Help! / Prog Number...?
29 July, 2014, 06:48:06 PM
Hello Hive, can any of good good folk tell me which Prog featured the Dredd tale in which he (Spolier) shoots some perps in a diner/restroom while they think he's sitting on the loo, and ends with the "paperwork to finish" line?

Thanks

General / Hook Jaw Original Artwork
16 November, 2007, 03:50:33 PM

Hi all, I just wanted to pop in and share my latest purchase, an original page from ACTION comic featuring everyone's favorite shark "Hook Jaw". I understand Rufus and Moose own pages also as seen on Moose's cool Action website.
Anyhow I was just really pleased to finally grab a piece of history here and thought I'd share.

Cheers

Help! / Strontium Dog help/Megazines for sale!
11 August, 2007, 03:57:06 PM

Hi all, just wanted to ask the hive mind a question...

Is the Strontium Dog tale set in Hell World from around Prog 117 (that's the copy I have here) available in a collected form? I'm sure it's been reprinted but I'm not sure where and when.

Also I've made the painful decision to part with a few years worth of the earlier Judge Dredd Megazines due to space, many have their free gifts and most are excellent shape, I'm hoping to sell these as a job lot so it'd be pick up only in the Liverpool area. If anyone is interested drop me an email and I'll get around to listing exactly what issues I have and perhaps arrange a fair offer.

Many thanks

Off Topic / Monster Fun
08 December, 2006, 08:03:39 PM
Hello all.

I'm just putting out a request to anyone who has any old copies of Monster Fun (with the GUMS comic strip on the front cover) that they may like to part with.

I'm not looking pristine bagged copies, just a few issues for my own JAWS collection so if any of you have copies knocking around that you don't want do please let me know?

Hope everyone is doing ok here and you're looking forward to the Christmas season.

Help! / Democracy Now - Graphic Novel (Posible Spoilers)
17 September, 2006, 07:08:00 AM

Hello all, I'm in need of some hive mind information and I have to say here that I've never been let down by you all so I guess this is an easy one...

I have the 2000ads covering this saga boxed away somewhere but would like the collected works and wanted to know does this collection include the pages where Grice and his crew try to off Dredd in the lift, which of course the top dog thwarts?

Cheers in advance

Ed

ps
I'm celebrating this weekend, not sure if there's any civil servants here on the forum but if so and you get the national paper this is little old(ish) me.

Help! / Judge Dredd Graphic Novels
30 August, 2006, 03:35:26 AM
Hiya all, a few questions for those in the know.

Is there a list here or elsewhere online detailing all the Judge Dredd Graphic novels produced to date?

As I consider slowly reducing my collection of tooths and megs I'd like to pick up some of the epics in book form, I have the usual suspects (Cursed Earth/Day Law Died/Necropolis etc), but info on some of those shorter tales like the Dead Man etc would be great.

I know Music Zone carried a large collection of titles reduced last year, does anyone else know where (besides ebay) I may pick up older titles/overstocks at a fair price online.

Cheers for any info.

Help! / Fonts Bubbles and Balloons
13 July, 2006, 04:30:40 AM

Hiya gang, hope this finds you all well.

Well I'm looking for a little help if possible...

After the success of a spoof newspaper I put together this year I'm looking next at producing a spoof comic. The art isn't a problem as I'll be doing that but I'm looking at finding some nice free and user friendly fonts and speech balloons etc for PC (which I can import and manipulate in Corel Draw), I have a few sites bookmarked for free fonts which are pretty cool, but it's the speech balloons/ FX spashes etc I'm interested in. Free sites downloads would of course be ideal but if there's any basic software out there worth snapping up I'd be interested also.

I spotted free Dialogue balloons and FX on the Blambot Comic Fonts site but wasn't sure how to import them into a program like Corel.

Hope someone here can advise.

Many Thanks and looking forward to "Origins"

Off Topic / Saying Hello
30 June, 2005, 05:15:11 AM
Hiya (from a bit of a stranger), I hope you're all doing ok.

I've finally been to the US of A, I survived and I've been catching up on a lot projects since my return (so much for a holiday!).

You may remember I have a passion for JAWS and was heading for the JawsFest 05 event. My trip to America/NY was absolutley Drokking unbelievable, (I'm seriously considering moving there if it's possible) the event itself was beyond everyone's expectations, including the local business' and council.

I've had some piss taking about my fascination with this movie over the years, but the weekend in Martha's Vineyard washed it all away, the friendliness, interviews, gifts, people recognising me in the street (creepy) and even a stalker (more creepy) lol... 30 years of loyalty repaid in full and worth every cent, it was beyond anything I'd hoped for.

Well, sorry for waffling on, I'm a happy man and I just thought I'd pop in and say hello and I hope all is well with everyone.

Ed

Is Dredd still alive then? ;-)

Off Topic / My first trip to the US of A
20 March, 2005, 04:03:00 AM

Well people, the flights are booked and at the end of May we head over the pond to New York and then south to Martha's Vineyard for the JAWSFEST on the island. A lucky few of us have managed to secure rooms in the cabin where Spielberg stayed during the making of JAWS and it's also where the main crew dined with him each evening.
Peter Benchley is onboard too, some of the crew even want to visit the cabin for a Barb BQ/cocktail party and I'm being interviewed alongside my US collector counterpart for a documentary/DVD release backed by Universal so it's going to be a pretty surreal weekend.

What I'd like to ask though is just what is America like? the place? the people?
I'm told New York is awesome, but what's the score for instance when you go into a US bar? do you pay up front like in the UK or as you leave? what about tipping? what about clothes? do you take clothing for all occasions and weather? best places to eat (or not!)?

Sorry this is off topic but I've only ever really been to Spain and I've no idea what to expect over there, I'm guessing people here have been across the big pond so I thought I'd ask.

Cheers

General / The Long Walk?
27 February, 2005, 12:35:11 AM

Well I have to fess up I?ve recently stopped buying 2000ad (not the Megazine just yet though)?

2004 was a pretty unusual year for me and I missed a few issues during the summer months and found myself no being too concerned about the missing issues and gap in my collection even though this was during the Dredd/Total War saga.

I?ve collected 2000ad since Prog 1 (I still have it) and I had a collecting lapse of approx 2 years around the time of the Apocalypse War tale.
I?ve been thrilled with the many many classic antics over the years, Stonty, ABC Warriors, Nicolai etc and most of all I?ve always been a major Dredd head?

Ah good old Joe, I have to admit there?s been times when old Joe was the only reason I continued to buy 2000ad each week, I?m not knocking the standard of the other material and content as it?s always well produced, it?s just that much of it didn?t appeal to me personally for one reason or another and I feel that?s one of the reasons I?ve now recently stopped reading 2000ad, there's nothing I care for.

I do believe that when another event changing saga in Dredd?s world comes into play I?ll no doubt start buying and reading it again and for how long is anyone?s guess,
I did consider perhaps this was it because I?m now 39 and growing old of comics but realised this wasn?t the case (I?ve recently enjoyed the vintage MACH 1 reprints) and like I said a crucial Dredd tale would  entice me back each week as I feel I?ve grown with the character over the years enough to care where he heading and pick up again when there's major developments in his world.

Has anyone else honestly been through this kinda 2000ad lull? Did you stop reading for a particular reason and then return? Does the tooth still light your fire like it did in the past (depending on your age)?
Would you admit here that you?ve stopped buying it for fear of retaliation from the hive mind? ;-)

Still and seriously people, 2000ad is a top draw publication and after all these years the comic world is lucky to have it, it?s been great fun and I?m hoping by reading the boards and reviews here when I can that I?ll eventually start reading again if something catches my eye.

Sorry for the ramble folks and hope you don?t mind me fessing up here, I guess regular readers here are the only people who may understand as my pals here in Liverpool never read comic books (they certainly don?t understand).

Best to you all.

Help! / Thumbnails!

Hiya gang, perhaps one (or more of you) can offer some advice and help?

I've finally completed work on my own website, but I've overlooked something pretty major... THUMBNAILS!

I've over 1200 images of various shapes and sizes that I need to reduce to thumbnail sized format for the site, I just need to know if there is any free software that could help me (or the lady building the site) produce these thumbnail images pretty quickly?

Thanks!

Ed (not head of tech devision, obviously) ;-)

I hope the Hivemind can share my enjoyment.

Help! / Black Atlantic
29 August, 2004, 08:45:02 PM

I took a trip to "Worlds Apart" last week to collect my tooth and meg fix and picked up this Dredd novel (it was the only title they had in stock).

Has anyone read this yet? any good? I really enjoyed the last wave of Dredd novels and fancied something new.

I notice two of the characters are called "Quint" and "Orca" :-0

On a different note, it was cool to walk around a bustling comic book store again, they had tons of titles, most totally unknown to me and some really cool Marvel figures/busts featuring their classic characters, the geek within me came out to play!

Cheers

Just been inspired by another thread "What Do You Love Doing" and a comment about ebay made by boardster "mccarron".

My question is to any ebayers out there is what kinda of feedback do you have either as a buyer or seller, and are you addicted the popular online auction site that is known as "ebay"?

I've just clocked 173 positive feedbacks mostly for buying, is anyone hopelessly addicted to the site and what kinda things do you buy?

I've accumulated what I consider the biggest collection of JAWS memorabilia in the UK partly thanks(?) to ebay, so what's YOUR weakness...?

Any fans out there?

I recall "Tooth" pushing one of their albums (Lifeforms?) during the 90's.

I've been listening to clips of their work and was wondering if any fans out there could recommend any of their albums or work?

I'm a fan of the Orb, Aphex Twin etc and do enjoy ambient music with an edge.

Cheers

Do any Fangoria readers out there know when the next issue is out here in the UK? (the site doesn't give any info)
