I never heard anything about actors images being a problem with Doomlord.
Why I didn't do the photo strips at that time was that they were too difficult to reproduce properly. That was nearly 20 years ago(!!) and technology has moved on and would now reproduce reasonably well. I did try a subsequent collection but it didn't happen.
Dan Dare, from what I understand, John and Pat own the rights to the Return of the Mekon story. It is a pity that its not reprinted, it has some of the finest art, and the story's not too shabby either!

Yeah, the old 'it was better in my day'. No it was just different. The humour comics form the forties were vastly different to the sixties, etc etc. Still, while my youngest has left the Beano and Monster Fun behind ( he did get the Phoenix, but never loved it) he is now coming home with a manga from Eason's every other week.

The first one was a lot of fun.

Great to see Jamie Smarts success. His take on Desperate Dan and Korky were really fresh, but not enough to save the Dandy. All the local book shops here in a small town have loads of his books and others like Dog Man, and are now stocking a small amount of Manga and DC collections as well.

That's really tough. After initially enjoying it a lot, it trailed off a bit for me and I stopped getting it, but I might give it a punt again. Its an amazing thing to get a comic of any sort into newsagents. Lovely format.

Munoz is an amazing artist, and these are all good tales, especially Sark the Sleeper.

Brilliant.

Really liked it! The Harrison book was a cracker too.

Dredd, story is fine, art is brilliant, reminded me of FM on Ronin, lovely. I enjoyed Renk, the story made sense, and got to its point Nice art and an interesting world.
The rest all readable, but not for me, and maybe that's the rub, its not aimed at me. I dunno.
Having  over the years tried to get my kids to read (my) comics, I've never had much success, but Robusters, Early Stront, Computer Warrior and Doomlord have always went down a storm. Never Dredd, by my youngest (12) is currently lapping up The EE edition of PJ Maybe, he loves him! Dunno what that says:)
I reckon the missing adventures of PJ, and Wolfie Smith too could be a good option to add to Regened, teenage tearaway psychic!

John Higgins drew the cover to Prog 43.

Storm Force was created by Barrie Tomlinson, Richard Burton and Vanyo, as a replacement for Action Force in Battle. A cross between Action Force, XMen and Thunderbirds. It was great, and got me back buying Battle for a bit, it had a long run in Eagle with some really great art by John Cooper and Vanyo.

This is an absolutely brilliant Zine, really love the tabloid format, recommended.

I'm loving this new format, I only sometime read the floppies, but with this new format I'm reading to cover to cover. The reprints are enjoyable, I haven't read the Johnny Red before, so that's great. Smith really has a great handle on Dreddworld, so the Anderson is a good read, even though I have read it before, Critchlow is missed whereever he is.

The OEJ/Dredd is an enjoyable tale, I'm a fan of the character and seeing the new connections being made between old Fleetway characters and 2000 AD may be a bit fan servicing, but I love it!

Dreadnoughts is the best, but it does suffer a bit being monthly, I'd love to see it more often. Lawless however suits the monthly schedule just fine, great stuff.
Spektor is fine as a curio, JW is my favourite writer, but sometimes the humour doesn't land. And this, I think, is one of those times.
Death and his buddies, not a particular fan, great art though, and it is building to an interesting finale.

All in all a very good Meg.
