Surprised this hasn't been mentioned so far.

Bah. The Sword and the Sorceror — now there's a low-budget 80s fantasy movie worthy of a sequel. What's that you say? It got one? Yeah... I like to pretend that didn't happen.

What's that you say?  "Original director Terry Marcel, in cahoots with 2000AD publishers Rebellion, is about to launch a crowdfunding campaign for Hawk The Hunter."

That wont get the loonies frothing at the mouth, will it?

Cool news

I remember taking some school pals to the cinema for my 13th birthday and we saw this in a double-bill with Saturn 3. Always had a soft spot for this, although I remember being disappointed that the "giant" was just the tall guy off the Cary On Films.

As long as they bring back the autistic elf dude, I'll be happy.

And CGI effects that lovingly recapture the silly string and luminous ping pong balls practical effects of the original.

I wondered what they were using the extra cash from the Summer and Winter specials for.

If this pans out is it dare to dream of another belated sequel coming to fruition?  :-X

I'm guessing this proposed sequel attempt from 2009 - starring Tom Hardy! - won't be the version being talked about now...

Hawk the Slayer? Still they remade Piranha and various other 80's shlock films so who am I to judge.

I think that there is a film based on of the World of Warcraft games coming out at some distant point in the future so perhaps they decided the fantasy series genre was worth gambling upon. Clever really.
