Usually use my three initials, which together make up a brand new name - JEF! (Okay, I know it's technically mispelt).

Urm, I'm sure I'll get told I'm talking crap by someone more enlightened, but I think it was prog 1234 - that was when the logo and design changed anyway (and possibly also the size) around about the time that Rebellion bought them out.

I'm sure I can't be far off.

"What was that Worldbreaker thing again? Is it Atavar's enemy or his ally? And what happened to that weapon of mass destruction to make it all zombified?"

Okay Ush, here goes my explanation - (not that you'll care if you hate the story, but I happen to love it and it's crazy space-opera-epicness.)

Worldbreaker and Voidshaker are the two champion-constructs (basically big robot-spaceship-creature-god things created by the power of a dying star) of the Binod Union. The Binods are now virtually the last race left in the universe standing against the UOS (the robots, remember them?)

The kalen are all but dead, the only other two  races are dead, and now the wosk too have become zombies in the star-cnacer. It's now just atavar and the binods against the UOS, and to fight for them, cos i get the impression they can't really do it themselves, the Binods built these two giant things to kick ten shades of shit outta the UOS.

While Voidshaker stayed to protect the home front, Atavar and Worldbreaker went off together (yes, as allies) to try and enlist the help of the only other remaining race, the wosk, against the UOS...

...only to find, shock horror, that all the wosk are dead in the giant star-cancer they thought was their god! NOOOOO!! Atavar and Worldbreaker venture into the tumour (um, okay, I honestly still don't quite get that bit) to look for them, only to be attacked by the zombified ranks of wosk.

Atavar lost contact with Worldbreaker during the fight, and probably assumed it was dead. Now it's returned as a zombie, (cos that's what the cancer does to things in it, apparently, like it did the wosk.) They WERE allies, but now it's safe to assume zombie-Worldbreaker's just gonna want to ruck (again, like the wosk.)

Sorted - makes perfect sense now, dunnit? Um...

Ha ha, nice idea - although, if I wanted to be REEEEAAAAALLLYY pedantic and anal, I could point out that a 'corpse back from the dead' would imply he was a corpse even before he died... but that would just make me a jerk, so I won't.

Well, to be fair to me, I do think I've still been quite original with the way I've done it (apart from the big robot - what can you do, it's just a big robot.)

That (I think) was why I hadn't realised until seeing it in black and white text exactly what I'd done. I'd been so original with my characters so as to disguise the basic idea they came from.

That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Becuase I don't want to start them all again from scratch.

You know, I thought I had been witty, clever and oh-so-original when designing my characters. 'None of the usual obvious stuff for me' I thought. 'I'm steering well clear of robots, mutants, aliens, hitmen, etc.'

I have just read your question and realised that my three characters so far are - a mutant, a big robot, and an... urm... evil judge.

SHIT!!!!

As far as burning bits goes, after the hanging (this was never meant to kill them, they were cut down just before the point of death so as to still be alive during the REALLY nasty bits) before the entrails and such like were taken out during the 'drawing' process, the genitals of all the conspirators were all cut off and deliberately burnt in front of their eyes.

You know, just to really rub it in.

Yeah, that's sorta what i meant;
ooh look, a Cabs cover by Frazer Irving
ooh look, a Cabs cover by Dom Reardon
ooh look, a Cabs cover by SB Davis, etc etc

Instead of Langley, Langley, Langley (although i do like his stuff)

I've always thought the very same thing about *that particular strip*. And is it just me or was the first book written better too? When it appeared it quickly became my favourite thrill. When it returned, you'd better believe it wasn't.

Anyway, so as not to change the topic of this thread (sorry):

I like the idea of different artists doing the covers for stories they don't necessarily normally work on, it gives a new riff on old characters and keeps things fresh - AS LONG AS the original artist gets to do some too, which Dom hasn't.

Yeah, i like the thrill (no pun intended) of the opening episodes, knowing there are still some 15 parts or something, and wondering what's gonna happen and how everything's going to come together.

(The Nimrod storyline in Total War, for instance, left me completely baffled as to its relevance until right at the end).
