Round 1 might require you get your thrill-banks tuned up as we drag some lesser lights of Tharg's Thrillverse out - though there are some stonking series in here it has to be said. And even when there's not, most of the ties offer some intriguing conundrums at least.

Mills and Davis vs Spurrier and Roberts - some big names in this one; but maybe not with their biggest thrills.

Which most rattles your thrill-receptors:

Black Siddha - more info

vs.

Bec and Kawl - more info

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early on the morning of Friday 29th October and the winner gets a place in Round 2 (of 9!!!).

What on Earth is ALL of this?

For those that need 'um and can be bothered to follow 'um there's some simple rules

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN!

When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Bec and Kawl was harmless fun, but never set my world on fire - and, crucially for a humour strip, I can't say I ever found it very funny. Black Siddha though (at least the first series) really grabbed my attention. Gorgeous art by Simon Davis. It faltered a bit later on, certainly, but a brave attempt to do something different.

Nice summary

I haven't read either of these so will abstain. I have a feeling this could become a theme...

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Both of these are rare examples of strips that I found unreadable at the time, ie I literally couldn't bring myself to look at every panel over six pages. There are very few strips that that applies to, as I generally feel duty bound to read everything. So I'm abstaining on this one.

I wasn't mad about either, but found Bec and Kawl slightly more enjoyable.
