Help! / Website php/cookie problems
18 March, 2002, 03:56:50 PM
It seems there are still some people who can't receive the full benefits of this website. I've tried lots of different cookie versions but nothing will work for everybody.

Can anyone suggest something else I can try? The current versions are:

Original: setcookie ("2000ADOnline", "$username");

1: setcookie ("2000ADOnline", "$username", time() + 3600000);

2: setcookie ("2000ADOnline", "$username", time() + 3600000, "/");

3: setcookie ("2000ADOnline", "$username", time() + 3600000, "/","www.2000adonline.com");

4: setcookie ("2000ADOnline", "$username", 0, "/");

5: header ("Set-Cookie: 2000ADOnline=$username; expires=Friday, 01-Jan-2020 00:00:00 GMT; path=/;");

The person currently emailing me for help is using Windows ME with IE 6.0.2600.0000. He has tried all levels of security and privacy settings.

Other quotes:

"My system is windows XP proffesional I have all the latest updates and have set my pc to allow cookies from your sight but still no luck. The firewall that is built into XP is turned on as well."

"Windows 95 + AOL on an old PC, and Cookie type 3 works for me, while all else fails."

"Win ME & the the browser is IE5. it worked on Alt 4"

Website and Forum / The Dictators of Zrag
27 February, 2002, 04:02:08 PM
The Dictators of Zrag must have infiltrated our web hosting company, since they took it upon themselves to pull the plug on our database without any warning, nor notification. The first time Barny contacted them he was told it was a fault which was being fixed. It was only much later he asked for an update and was told that the action had been deliberate, because we were using the database too much! ...not that we have ever been told about a limit, not even a measure of how much we are using the facility.

Since Mek-Quake is too big to fit in a mail sack, I think we're going to have to send Tharg over to the USA based company to deal out some Rigellian Hotshots on this one.

If you know the strip i am talking about can you plase reply by e-mail. Ther was a story of Sinister Dexter running at the same time and that was about a contract being put out on the main boss or them?????"

News / Quesada, Alonso, Moore confirmed for Comics 2002
07 February, 2002, 10:08:49 PM
PRESS RELEASE

Marvel comics editors Joe Quesada, Axel Alonso and Stuart Moore have confirmed they will be attending COMICS 2002, the UK's Official Annual Comics Festival in Bristol, England over the weekend of May 31 - June
2nd 2002.

It is the first time a Marvel comics editorial team has travelled from New York to a British comics event since the late 90s and the news is causing great excitement among the British comics industry.

In recent years Marvel comics have regained their title as the world's leading comics publishers, and a large part of their recent success is attributed to their use of British comic talent.

Two of Marvel's most popular UK talents, Glasgow based writer and artist Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely whose New X-Men is currently the world's best selling comic, will be joining the Marvel editors at the
Comics 2002 Festival, alongside over 150 star guests for a three day celebration of international comic book art.

F.f.i. contact Kev F Sutherland, Festival Producer 01275 871856

Programme is published March 2002.

Website and Forum / New page! - editorial credits
29 January, 2002, 05:53:56 AM
Following a recent thread, I've finally got around to creating a page which collates the editorial credit info found on the droid profiles pages.

Please let me know if you can help expand/correct it. There's no reason why assistant editorial droids can't be included. However I need to know start and end progs.

The same goes for Nick Landau and John Tomlinson. If they were ever chief editorial droids, then what span of progs did they do? I need to have prog numbers to enter them, even if they are slightly inaccurate.

Cheers,

Wake

Help! / Lost Thrills

I have a list of thrills which have been reprinted but which fail to link to their originals, either because the story title doesn't match, or the original data is missing. Please could you have a look at them and email or post any you can find.

The code for where the story is reprinted is in bold.

Cheers,

The following message was posted today on the Dan Dare yahoo group. I've replied to it mentioning that Eric also did work for 2000AD. Hopefully I'll be able to put up a mini bio and photo on his droid page based on the fanzine tribute mentioned below.

General / Prog 1270 print fault?
26 November, 2001, 08:20:27 PM
My copy of prog 1270 has a large pale yellow streak down page 4 of Judge Dredd which doesn't look like it's supposed to be there since it is in front of the speech bubbles it crosses. Does anyone else have this?

Off Topic / Silly Quiz
13 November, 2001, 05:31:52 PM
One of our research students (Oxford Brookes University) has asked me to set up a research quiz for her. Since I've been learning php for this website, I've used that and put in on this server (I've asked for php at work but it hasn't happened yet).

If you have a few minutes spare, please could you give it a go. Please don't discuss the nature of the questions here, since that may influence anybody else who tries it.

Cheers,

Website and Forum / Judge Death in the Thrillviewer
02 November, 2001, 10:35:16 PM
Check out the Thrillviewer for a bunch of new stories, including the original Judge Death/Anderson story from progs 149-151.

In general I've restricted stories in the Thrillviewer to 1 or max 2 episodes but this is an exception, because it features the first appearances of 2 major characters, because it might form the basis of a future Judge Dredd movie and because it's so good.

Thanks have to go to Robin Lees and his scanner for all the work he's put in recently.
