Megazine / Re: Meg 424 - Thirty Megnificent Years

So I haven't bought a Meg (or Prog!) for several years now, and also haven't posted on here for six years! I'm looking to start again seeing as both are jumping on issues.

But is the Meg always £7.99 now or is the price just because it's an anniversary issue?

Prog / Re: Prog 1901 - Trigger Warning

Following an inexcusable absence, I jumped back on last week with Prog 1900, so this was my first 'real' Prog in a while.

Really enjoyed it. Dredd was as awesome as ever. It felt so much longer than six pages (in a good way), there's just so much going on.

First encounters for me with both Ichabod and Greysuit. Anything involving an outlaw gunslinger caught in the afterlife and trying to get his revenge on God has to be good. Lots of nice ideas, and the art is stunning. I thought Greysuit was great, and was surprised to find that previous instalments were not very highly though of by other readers. Lots of action and a super-powered undercover agent. What's not to like?

Stickleback is back and it's still amazing. The art is lovely and perhaps even a little clearer than it has been in the past.

Last week was the first time I'd come across Kingdom, and I thought it was brilliant and immediately reserved The Promised Land from my local library. This storyline really feels like it's building itself up to something huge. I also didn't pick up on the Aux Drift/Rorke's Drift connection until I came onto the forum.  :-[

So all in all, a very fine Prog and one that will keep me coming back for more.

Megazine / Re: Meg 332 - Slaying Double!

Enjoyed the Meg a lot this month. Probably more than I enjoyed the last Prog I bought (1818).

The Pits was enjoyable enough, I loved the
double bootknife to the third guard's head and throat
, but the ending made me wish that Anderson could get a break eventually.

Hondo-City Justice was a right rollicking yarn, full of
undead samurai
and ritual suicide. Probably my favourite thrill of the month, I look forward to more of this!

This was my first time reading American Preacher, and it doesn't seem to be particularly well thought of around here. The story seems exciting enough, but I'm not really sure about the artwork, there were bits that I thought worked quite well, like the guard being beaten by the Reaper, but then there were parts where the emotions on people's faces didn't seen to match the dialogue (the daughter: "I'm so SICK of hearing this!" with a completely calm face.)

Inversion, the second Dredd story was good, with some nice black and white art from David Roach, who is interviewed elsewhere in this month's Meg. I liked the idea of
growing old in mid-air as a result of hitting a 'zone of dimensional distortion'
. Basically wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey. The 'Griff Rhys' on the side of the building on the first page made me think of Super Furry Animals, whose lead singer is called Gruff Rhys (note the spelling), which is always nice!

Also, there's a nice interview with David Roach where he talks about his obsession with recording every British comic ever produced.

All around a very good issue!

I joined today and I can't work out how to (or even if I can) post in other parts of the forum. I managed to post in the 'Welcome to the board' section, but I can't seen to post anywhere else.

Welcome to the board / Hello board!

Hello there, relatively new 2000 AD reader here, having started reading regularly since the movie well and truly destroyed my thrill receptors (although I did buy the occasional prog and Megazine prior to that).

I've been lurking here since so I thought I should finally join in. I look forward to learning more about the world of 2000 AD!
