Quote from: BPPIf you think about it - delays 'hurt' 3A more as it clearly indicates more costs on their end. If they could ship this stuff yesterday, they would.

Fair play. Thanks again for your considered response.

......how long did we wait for the return of Bad Company?

At least 3A stuff is worth the wait.  ;)

I still don't get their release schedule though. Why wasn't Dredd first?
I'd have thought Dredd, Strontium Dog and ABC Warriors, because of their skill in making robots, would've come first.   :-\
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

I would love some Bad Company characters, but cannot wait for Johnny and hopefully Wulf.

Thou can see some sense in their release order

1) Tharg - optimism and respect to the big man. Relatively easy figure to get out quick.
2) Ro-Jaws / Mongrol 1/6 - 'let's sell robots as we sell lots of those'
.....hummm, 1/6 not selling.....

3) Mongrol 1/12 - 'can we shift robots at this price point'? (Design work already done)

4) Gronk n fish - fun quick cheap comic exclusives for SDCC (3A wrote a long and interesting defence on the need for con exclusives to cover table costs)

5) Dredd & Death - THE RELAUNCH - death before Dredd as Dredd needed a whole new body plus lawmaster

6) Robo-hunter - 'our fans buy robots, maybe they'll buy a robo-hunter?'

7) Fear & Mortis - death has sold well, let's collect the set (holy cow 'fire' is tricky)

8) Satanus - DINOSAUR! (Maybe this will sell to non core fans, it's a gert big dinosaur)

9) judge Giant - Dredd needs buddies. Plus everything is made for Dredd.

10) Dredd 1/6 - let's try this again, with the main man...

It's clear anything other than Dredd is a tough sell but 3A have expressed their commitment. They're trying to get non 2000ad 3a people to buy into the line via robots and dinosaurs plus that general recognition Dredd and Death have. Rogue? Alpha? Wulf? The Amazing Maze Dumoir? Tougher sells to anyone not on this board. Sad but true.

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

One thing though do the other 'characters' they sell have name recognition? Aren't they just folks, robots or what not made up for the toy line and so any added name recognition is just a bonus?

I could be wrong here as I don't always come to this thread as 3A aren't normally selling "DINOSAUR! (Maybe this will sell to non core fans, it's a gert big dinosaur)". If I make the purchase I'm proof that 8 could work... more likely to make the purchase if they make a 'Old One Eye' variant... though I could just get me goad..

3a has 3 sets of non-3rd party fans
1) sexy female doll fans (lots of S&M n guns latex clad type figures)
2) Ashley woods comic / art fans - like just about anything he does, including zaney stuff like homeboys with dolphins on their heads or Andy Warhol clones.
3) robot fans

I'd say 3A hopes Satanus will cross over with the 2nd group quite strongly. Their 'Popbot' world has dead cosmonaut assassins, sex pest robots and blind Cowboys on zombie horses.. People who like that stuff are probably keen to see 3A's first Dinosaur.

Can it really be 'everything is made for Dredd' if Dredd doesn't come until after?  It seems more likely to me that point (9) is:

"This Dredd body isn't working out! We're going to have to do it again."
"What will we do with all the existing Judge bodies that don't fit on the bike?"
"Turn them into another Judge.  We might get some money back."

Nope, they've got that covered too! Popbot is one of their perennially popular lines.

I can't actually believe they're doing Satanus - just brilliant imo, shows they're going fir it for love. And yeah, a Dino might bring a few more sales of course.

Shame Big Dredd is put back again, but still super excited it's on the way. This also might mean there'll be some wee Dredds in hand by the time it's on Bamba...
To tell the truth, you can all get screwed.

Giant and Apoc War Dredd aren't being offered until the existing Dredd orders are shipped.

'Everything is made' means all the expensive unique tooling for making all the judge detailing is done. 3A went to the expense of making a whole new 1/12 body for Dredd because they wanted him to have a more barrel chest and be able to pose on the lawmaster. They could just have used the standard 1/12 body and hacked something out. Maybe that would have stopped the easy sneers and cynicism.

Is is a small bespoke toy company taking a loss on figures such as Sam Slade because their founder is a huge 2000ad fan who wants to make his childhood comics 'real'. Let's all bitch at them some more. That'll work.

I agree BPP.

3A aren't a Hot Toys or Necca, they are a small outfit and we should appreciate that a company actually wants to create 2000ad related toys at such a high standard!

Jesus! I've waited nearly 40 Years for some decent Dredd/2000ad toys I'm certainly going to cut Ashley Woods and the team some slack, especially when the end results are of such high quality.

Remember when there was next to no merchandise?  :o

COMMANDO FORCES

2000 AD posted an image of what can only be the 1/6th scale Dredd from SDCC. He has a detachable chin (basically the whole face), so you can have a growl type expression.

COMMANDO FORCES

By the way, that image was just his head.
There's been a full body picture taken, which I saw on instagram and I can see these beauties selling, even with 6 links  ;)

Obviously you lot think sleep is important. Well now that I'm home, here's the photo that I saw.
