Writers, no more wondering what an octopus stuffed into a cup of jello sounds like: glormp.

(I made that up  :D)

Your onomatopoeia reference for just about every sound effect...ever.

I'd missed this before - BRILLIANT thread / link!

It often drives me to despair when I see inappropriate SFX in comic scripts that I'm supposed to letter. I'm forever making the case that certain words are not SFX, merely words to describe them.

I swear, if I see ONE MORE gunshot SFX that goes 'bang'...

That's one I used in a strip in the upcoming Pulp comic.

I like 'blang', a mix of 'bang' and 'blam'. I've been reading Mexican comics lately and old west gunshots are always 'blang'. So arsom.

Well I looked up my favourite sound effects (is it sad that I even HAVE favourite sound effects?) and couldn't find either of them.

Where is CHOOM for explosions or very big guns, or the sound of Dredd's bike-laser PTOOO?
