Similarly for me. And the News and Weather Presenter thread.

I remember teh Great Mouse War of the Millenium in our house.  You could hear the little sods running up and down the walls there so many of them.   I kept using humane mouse traps (got rid of 14 mice over ten day period) and eventually had to give in and use poison when they started crawling and eating stuff in Tiny Tips cupboard under the stairs crib. Tough decision for a vegetarian.

I have since discovered that you need to take them at least FIVE miles away from your house (not just down the hill and across the burn) to stop the little fekkers coming back.  So I may have taken the same mouse out 14 times.  Oh and use peanut butter in the traps; it's harder for them to pick up and walk off with.

FIVE MILES?! Jebus, I was only taking them down the allotments during my own Mouse-o-geddon years ago. I was ejecting the same ones again and again by the sound of that. Mouse infestation isn't much fun. And I'm afraid if you see one, there's very probably a lot more.

Prog / Re: Prog 1721 - Like a Shak Out Of Hell!

Served Cold seems to have a pretty short timeframe, it's all happened so far in a couple of days I would say? The Overlappiness of Dredd Stories Theory that I've just made up suggests later that week he
becomes the new Chief of Sector 95
in the megazine. Meg and Prog Dredd do fit together very well if you just think of them as happening in the same week or whatever. He's a busy man :)

Great prog by the way! Shakara, Kingdom and Ampney are all frazzling my thrill circuits, and I'm hugely enjoying the Dredd.
The clue of Kingdom's setting has always been on the input page by the way. It starts Earth, the far future. I'd forgotten about that scene in book one though, good catch!

I kinda like the show.

Sure, episode 1 was shockingly slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I've been trying not to let the lack of science details get in the way of the drama, although they are annoying when I stop to think about them.

The look of the show is great, and it manages to give me that desire to think "what would I do if I was on Carpathia" which is key to me when it comes to straight SF and Fantasy.

I kinda like it too, for similar reasons. My favourite aspect of Deadwood was the strange sense of isolation that came from the town not even being in America as it was at the time, but on Indian land. It gave it an almost colony planet or post apocalyptic vibe that really put me there.

I think it's great that the beeb is doing a show like this, and it does have a lot of stuff going on that is doing it for me. But it keeps pissing on it's chips with some dreadful writing and characterisation. Tipper is some layabout who PAS don't know in the first episode, but now he has a radio show that everyone listens to? He smashes one of his precious vinyls one minute, and in the next episode twice pleads for them not to be damaged by other people. And Stella keeps going on about her beloved husband, but has a one night stand the day she might be reuinted with him after 15 years? And she gives Julius a second chance after he's nice for a couple of days, after discovering he's a manipulative semi-paedophile who stole his place on the shuttle from one of his "followers". Please. And exactly what was so immediate that the colony ships had to leave in the first place, because there was going to be a nuclear war at some point in the next 2 decades? That's pretty lame.
And now they're just throwing ideas out there like prehistoric Earth visitors, the planet is going all Solaris and bringing Tate's kids back to life. If they were going to follow through on any of them fine, but I'm sceptical.

In short, bah :) There's a really good show in there somewhere that's being scuppered by some terrible writing.

Did I dream it or did the trailer for tonights episode have them finding evidence of humans on Carpathia in the past? And Eric Moebius is clearly Hitler.

Oh that is good news! Looking forward to this immensely. Dylan Dog next if you please, my cousin in Italy has got better things to do than translate my comics for me :)

Mystery Science Theater 3000. I've got a few mates who are really into it and kept getting me to try and watch it, so one night I watched the movie version on ITV late at night. After a little while I started thinking to myself "will you morons SHUT THE FUCK UP?! I'm trying to watch This Island Earth!" Probably not the intended response :)I just wanted to climb into the telly and knack them, so I turned it off, and it takes a lot to make me turn a film off before the end. Maybe I've got it wrong and the series is dead funny and all that, but man did I hate that film.

I really liked High School Musical! It was sweet and charming and well written for that sort of thing.

My Grandad was a Bevan Boy, and my other Grandad spent most of the war stationed in Iceland. He also did his basic training with Max Bygraves.  :)

Hmmm, the blurry picture of that motorbike, the devastating revelation that some bloke on the set thought the dialogue sounded hammy, I think the world will end at the Dredd premiere. I for one will be stocking up on tins of beans.
