Has there been any Judges with sideburns like Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, really big chops and all that?

I know a moustache is frowned upon by the elite guard dc but if not, why not? *

Help! / Tesco de-liver-y feAr.
22 December, 2006, 11:31:01 AM
Waiting for the van of feast for this beastly time of year I was struck upon the idea that the Tesco delivery drivers had become desperado killers.

They had purposely stuck their details down for extra food transport work to consumers houses with the intent of actually terrorising and murdering a load of customers at their houses. Simultaneously they would pillage, rape and go on this subversive rampage ending in a blazing gun battle on the coast as they finally get caught and they themselves shot and killed. I was sure it would be the day I was on their address route, somewhere around the third to the last household whom had fallen victim.

Or they might not deliver at all.

Off Topic / The Thurso town got cult. Is yours?
07 December, 2006, 01:17:23 PM
Inspired by the mention from Letter of the Week AND the fact my town has been mentioned in GTA San Andreas;("This desert's as barren as Chorlton" or something) AND there is always a thread on lames to fame, is there any other posters who live in towns which have been given cult (or in the fullness of desperation a claim to fame) stasis?

I mean theres Cardiff for a start in Dr Who.

The list may be endless and it may end here. Must be loads of 2000ad references to areas local to readers.

Just curious too

Help! / Sky dealing like hustlers.
29 November, 2006, 05:18:50 PM
So me and my partner decided to buy into Sky right.

Great for the 3 month freebie deal.

Bad news started coming through when the bills did not correspond to the deal.

Phoned them.

They said get in touch with the suppliers. A company called Spectrum supplied us with box, dish and installation.

Apparently a code was given to Sky ( Sky bod's blaming suppliers) and it was wrong. Phone back suppliers, Suppliers say- "right code is given to Sky.

The suppliers give us the code to give to Sky.

20 minutes holding time. My partner gets cut off halfway through the complaint.

Another 20 minutes hold. Some mumbling prick denies any knowledge and cannot get any management to speak to us, regarding the money they now owe us from DD overpayments.

No channels except Zone shite and still back to a premium package after 3 month freebie.

Another 20 mins hold tomorrow with no knowing wther we will be redeemed for Sky's f**k up

Has anybody else been shafted by the company and can I get any legal advice on how to sock it to these cocks.

PLEASE.

I have a nice idea for the African Judges in a fan story. Absolutely not informed about these characters.

Could do with help in which progs they appear in and any special continuity they may have with Megas City and the Joe.

Beer credits will be handed out to any who do help.

Please.

Troppmann, Jean Baptiste
He killed a whole family (father, a pregnant mother and six children, from 17 to 2 years old) in 1869. Nobody knows why. He was executed on the 19th of January 1870 in Paris. He was 20. During the execution, he managed to bite the fingers of assistant Nicolas Roch.

Zone Horror has a tendency to churn out some spiffingly low key B~movies. Right now

Phantam from Space is on. Has this board ever done a topten of B-Movies?

Anyway it's a nice topic and I wondered if you lot would share your favourite B-movies with the rest of the web..:)

General / Re: RIPs
05 September, 2006, 12:27:53 AM
I'm reckoning its all a bit oddly predictable.

Steve Irwin , in my opinion hd got himself doing a bit of guerilla conservationing and the anti-conservationists set him up against his less than abundent knowledge of the stingray. Bided their time and stuck one in him, a barb, then injected the toxin.

Perhaps a rival.

Don't mean to upset anyone, one just gets like this. When dealing with emotionally charged issues one tends to build a pre-500 future shock plot around it.

RIP Steve. If you didn't exist I think 2000ad would have developed a close as damnit charactor of yer.. I mean what more praise can I give you man. I didn't even know you. I was getting to like you though. Pity I won't see you mature past your young macho self, to become a natural history biologist of some kind.

Did Sylvester Stallone write the script for Saturday Night Fever?

And that he originated as a writer not an actor?

I was speaking to a mate of mine recently about this GN. Based in the X-Men universe the story is of someone thwarted both by humans and mutants.

Any takers?

I mean; has anyone read it or know where I can get a copy?

Books & Comics / The Woods Are Dark
06 June, 2006, 08:05:51 PM
I'm reading  Richard Layman's "THe Woods are Dark at the moment. Very trashy and 80's horror. His stuff is very approachable and easy reads.

The people in the woods are the Krulls.

The people in the town deliver passers through to the Krulls.

They tie them to the trees as sacrifices.

Its a modern day setting.

Anyway I heard Richard Layman died. Is this true?
This is the sort of book I pick up and read when there are no other requirements than to just pick up and read a fiesty crap novella. The sort of thing you read and imagine( as an artist and writer) making into a comic, because it's theatrical text may be given a more good humoured look.

I have just seen a real lifehangman's gallows left as a reminder of times gone by I would presume  on This Morning.

Are there any other artifact of similar semblence dotted around England?

This one on the telly was as tall as a tree. There are pubs and hotel referencing days of yore but I didn't actually think there were still operational punishment devices left for public appraisal.

Do any of the members of the board know of or have a construction of corperal punishment in their area of Britain specifically?

Off Topic / Critics
27 April, 2006, 03:46:15 AM
Hi.

I know I'm shit at writing posts, least of all submitting my own.I spend a lot of time talking the crack with you people on 2000ad's official site and appreciate the sides you put to me. Because I tend to be floating around here most days when I am supposed to be doing "dig myself out of unemployment" work for the web I thought I may ask a few opinions on what you may see as a bizarre column.

Now Most of you a reviewers and have insight to critical appraisal. I would really be grateful if you offered opinions that may help me in my construction of a 3000 word review. Don't worry I am trawling the newspapers and TV/Internet for other points of view, but I am at the end of the day consistantly flicking through here getting in on the gutsy and the funny commentries 90% of the time, when I should be writing.

I am supposing the core question; " CRITICS: WHY DO WE NEED THEM?" will be based on the film and movie world critics. But watching "The Great British Meal" (on two at six) and seeing all sorts of reviews critiques inthe art/book and comic world, the running constant is; there are those for and against criticism.

(Fantastic as I write this I see my opening debate to be the "Critics" from viz as a light starter to the essay/column.)

Criticism is everywhere. Its use is constructive and destructive. It is part of certain starsigns charactor though that too could come under criticism.

As a main body of people I would like to see you points of view, anyway, too see how people understand critics, experts or just criticism as a whole.

In comics as writers as artist as doctors or general publics.

Thanks, I know this is a bit bold coming from me but I thought I may bring up a debate and help myself to some quotes for the column too. Quotes I have found, through interviewing intelligent aguers for or against.

Off Topic / Laying down the Law.
22 April, 2006, 12:52:16 AM
I saw this phenomenal scene today.

Me ant' missus were walking back from the doctors through south manchester. Now being that we had dickheads on bikes mowing us over nearly on bikes on the pavement when there was plenty of quiet road to go on and lots of little out of control asbos waiting for us to make eye contact with us,we discussed howc we avoided it or dealt with it with our superior inteligence. As we went along a small estate, on a road off to our left was this huge cop horse. You know those fecking massive ones. Amzing beasts. Astride was a female copper . they were on the pavement and circling around on this youf. Let me describe him to you. Dressed in black hooded to intimidate and possibly giving this horsecop grief. When we turned to this scene it was almost photographic. The sun was shining. The players totally still for an infinite moment. Then it played out .

The horse stepped its two forehooves of the kerb. The little fug crapped himself. The copper remained silent and had a look on her face as if to say, I ain't gonna do ought but my friend here, well you can see hes getting a bit authoritive with you boy.

Then the back hooves hopped off the kerb and the shister took another weak jump. He could not move. like a weazel caught in the deadlights. the amount of times these people use non-verbal passive aggressive behaviour on us freeloving couples to intimdate us, it was a pleasure for some huge force of nature( which no doubt these little gangster wannabees proclaim themselves to be with a gun in their hands taking lives and f*cking people over)actually showing this geezah where he stood in the food chain.

I thought that must be what its like to meet Judge Dredd.

I'm not a big backer of the law but sometimes there are individuals who know just how much to push law enforcement. This cop wasn't big headed or showing off. Doing her job properly counted. Nasty little villian, and he was a villian I lived with many, certainly got a gentle touch of whathis parents should have sat him down and shown him years ago.

A good man knows his limitations.
This is not a stage for their gangstah filum.

Respect not just the law of people but the law of nature.

Thought some of you armchair slabjockeys might have a few to share.
