This is a public service announcement - I hope it's not too late to help someone.

The new Ben Stiller film, The Watch is really awful.  The premise is okay but the delivery is so bad I was distracted by trying to think of anything else I've watched which has been such a perfect storm of horrendous overacting, crappy script and uninteresting characters.  Perhaps Quantum of Solace, but that was better because Bond is a good character, Daniel Craig can act and the action stuff was well done.   In The Watch I didn't care about any of the characters except in wishing I wasn't watching them.  There are huge amounts of swearing, which I quite like if it helps the show along/is funny.  Here it was just pointless.  It should be a strong Razzies contender.
Slight silver lining, the afro-d bloke from The IT Crowd was in it and was his normal charming self.  So last night we started watching a dvd of that show which has been sitting around the house for ages.

So, if you haven't seen The Watch and there's the slightest chance you might do so - you have been warned.

thanks for the heads up....that said i usually avoid Stiller like the plague.

Quantum of Solace was a good film, but the action was incompetently directed.  We shall simply have to agree to disagree.

We will indeed have to agree to disagree, since my view is pretty much the polar o pposite of yours.  I thought it had good action but was an awful move.  I also liked the scene in which Bond seduces a hottie by asking where the stationary is.  It was a phenomenal disapointment to discover that the alwesome conspiracy was all about water privatisation.  I mean, I'm happy that Bond, like me, doesn't liike privatisation, but it seems a bit humdrum.  However, I won't wax lyrical about it.
All in all, it was much better than The Watch.     SInce this thread hasn't been flooded with 'yes wasn'nt it awful' or 'are you insane?  The Watch was the bomb' comments, I assume Ben Stiller watching isn't a high priority here and that you nice people are safe.

I've yet to see any of the Daniel Craig bond films.

While I remember enjoying Bond films as I've got older they haven't really been a 'must watch' for me. That being said, the other day I happened on Casino Royale going really cheap in HMV and I picked it up. Along with Paul (a good film). It says something that while I was quite quick to watch Paul, I'm still in no real rush to see the Bond film, yet I've no doubt I'll probably enjoy it when I see it. That's usually the case with Bond films.
