My first time so can I as any veterans what is the best hotel strategy, do you get in on Friday and stay two nights or hit the road bright and early and just stay on Saturday?

Coming from Cal-Hab me and the good lady are staying over from Friday and all refreshed to start on the Saturday & Sunday.
I've only ever stayed at the venue and found it very handy nipping back to the room and swapping volumes or taking back any sketches I had done.

On the Sunday last year, John Higgins insisted we go to a pub 'round the corner' because the hotel bar had no Guinness. The pub he suggested did, indeed, have Guinness... it was also full of

was that the Ship, just up the side of the church, covered in England flags? Yes a very ... interesting clientele that place. The woman behind the bar was more pissed than any of the punters

That's me and the Mrs made it safely back to Cal Hab - drive up through the lakes & Scottish Boarders was beautiful in the sunshine.
This was another brilliant Lawless weekend and a big 👍🏻To Sue and the gang for arranging such a great event.
So many highlights over the weekend none more than meeting up with you Boots and your good lady for a few drinks.
Hopefully it goes ahead next year and we can do it all again 👍🏻😁

'23 was my first time at Lawless; had an incredible weekend. Fun cosplay, a very happy crowd and every creator there was only too happy to chat. Even Mick McMahon, who was inundated most of the weekend signing and sketching, made time to talk.
I think part of the magic is that Su and the team limits the number of tickets sold, which makes it a lot more intimate than other cons.

Those are great and reminds me I wanted a simping Detective sketch but time and more important money had run out by then 🤞🏻 Fraser is there next year if Su can muster the energy to do it again

I agree about the atmosphere, it's very relaxed. I did both days this year and perhaps relaxed into it too much, as I spent so much time chatting, going to panels and meeting people that I completely missed my chance to see if Henry Flint had any Hawk the Slayer artwork.
I picked up a couple of sketches and some original art pages - I'm in the office today, will try and post some bits up tomorrow.

You can see one of them in the bottom right of the picture when Henry is crafting the xenomorph. Probably a dozen
Hawk the Slayer pages in total, including the full page reveal of Voltan's face full of maggots.
Not sure that is the sort of thing you want hung on a wall; equal parts beautiful and horrifying.

I chatted to so many people and have such a bad memory for names/faces that I have no idea if I spoke to Trooper McFad or Barrington Boots over the weekend (if it was in the bar I would have likely been with Eamon or Jim Campbell)
The Tharg cosplay was brilliant - I didn't see Judge Death or Blackblood, thanks for posting those. Nice collection of sketches - I am now also the proud owner of a Lew Stringer original "Ming the Merciless drunk-shopping for Ferrero Roche in lingerie on a space-hopper", which has been added to Colin MacNeil's "Tank Girl riding a dragon on the moon" from a previous year.
I think I was slightly stitched up by Glenn Fabry and his missus - bought a copy of his new book Lot 13 (very good) and asked him to sign it. His partner said "Glenn, you could do a doodle as well" - and then charged me £35 for it (and it was literally a 30 second doodle that I hadn't asked for).
Great to catch up with Eamonn, Jim Campbell, Burdis, Stacey and many others.

Same! I love Lew Stringer, can't believe Rebellion don't want to work with him (or Tom Paterson!) on Regened or Monster Fun.
