Books & Comics / Re: Batman RIP + Final Crisis

I felt so let down after buying all the 'Infinite Crisis' stuff last time around - started well and ended up shite - that I just can't stomach another overblown Crisis. No doubt there'll be an Ultimate Totally Final Crisis along next year

Quote from: "worldshown"At best, the service they are offering will be against the terms and conditions of the game being played.

At worst, they'll hijack your character and sell all your stuff to other players.

and in the middle they'll just NEGATE THE WHOLE F****G POINT OF PLAYING!!

I only clicked on this thread to find what it's all about, but I'm with Usher on the not-caring-ness.

Help! / Re: Tin Pan Alley (rifle game)

Quote from: "M.I.K."That robot thing looks familiar.

It used to genuinely baffle me! You twisted the robot to point at the question and then moved him to the mirrored circle on the other side - then by MAGIC he would spin around to end up pointing at the right answer! I couldn't figure out how it worked for years! The Dan Dare set had NONE of the cool working bits left on it by the time I got my mitts on it - there's a pristine version of both in the Edinburgh Toy Museum which made me feel old!

or rather, what was left of them after being handed down via 2 older brothers!

Actually, the cover of the current Meg could be Judge Dan - He is the LAW in Cactus-City One! :D

Books & Comics / Re: Marvel comics
25 September, 2008, 08:36:15 PM
Quote from: "ctaylor"That said generally I'm really really moving away from Marvel.
Quote from: "ctaylor"Still find myself much more attracted to DC Universe for my superhero fun these days.

On reflection I've kind of swung bewteen the two over the years. For long years I was marvel only - superman and batman were just...too silly.

Post-Dark Knight returns, I went all DC, and back and forth since.

I'm on the opposite track to you though - it's Make Mine Marvel these days. I felt totally cheated and let down after buying all the DC Infinite Crisis stuff last year ('Identity Crisis was so good, but the 'countdown' got shittier as it went along). Should've been called Crisis - part 2 of 3 anyway. Now this year my pennies have all gone on the civil war/avengers/hulk stuff - true there's been some polished turds amongst that (thunderbolts!) but I still don't fancy DC much.

As you'll see, I'm not one of those gotta-have-it-as-soon-as-it-comes-out kinda guys - I'm currently waiting for secret invasion to get collected - was it worth it anyone?

QuoteYeah, they can embrace my ball-sack.
I'm trying not to think about the latest spiderman fiasco, but the whole iron man/avengers thing was a surprise to me- I was way out of touch.

And then there's the whole 'Ultimate' alternatives..... :geek:

Okay, I've taken some deep breaths and had a possibly unfair pop at Ace Garp on another thread, so here goes...

BLUES BROTHERS
TWELVE ANGRY MEN
RETURN OF THE JEDI
GOODFELLAS
SPINAL TAP
CITY OF GOD
LIFE OF BRIAN
NAME OF THE ROSE
BRAZIL
PINK FLOYD:THE WALL

and..No!
What do you mean?
Ten??! Can't be ....Wait...stop...
I'VE CHANGED MY MIND!
I'VE NOT FINISHED!
Nooooooooooo......

Other Reviews / Re: The Complete Ace Trucking Co.

I won't be shelling out for this one personally.

I'll tip my hat in awe to Sr Belardinelli - his aliens blew my tiny little preteen mind in the 70s. The artwork in Ace was top quality, but I always hated the story and the godawful piggybacking on the non-existent "craze" of CB slang which some executive obviously thought was sweeping the nation's youth like crack cocaine - cringeworthy! Only the unique character of GBH (Dead) raised it above filler IMHO.

'tis a nice cover tho

Try this for the helmet:
//http://www.termight.co.uk/britcit.html

or maybe this page of Armitage will help. These judges are a bit harder and cooler in their all-blue riot gear - other versions are a little sillier I seem to remember.I thought I could put my finger on it, but can't actually find the old issue of the Meg that had a "judges of the world" poster - perhaps someone else can find it.
