Dale meets Carlos and acquires a valued original work of art.

Nice print signed by John and Carlos who I also had the pleasure of buying both a pint in the pub before the Dredd and Minty screenings

CJSutherland86

just done a quick write up about my day at the festival yesterday. Wish I could have been there for the whole thing, but hey ho.

Check it out here: http://blog.cjsutherland.co.uk/kendal-comic-festival/

Lots of photos, hope you like the post here's a couple of images from in it..

Sean Phillips talking about his artwork.

John wagner being escorted onto the stage in true judge fashion.

Apparantly working in comics doesn't do a lot for your eyesight..

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

I took a bunch more, but I'll leave it to John to post them up - even if he wasn't in uniform...

Good going that man.

Having John and Carlos join us for a pint before the Dredd screening was awesome.

Getting to chat to Carlos about his art was a joy and made my inner 2000ad fanboy very happy. A genuinely nice charming man.

No Festival report from me bar a huge recommendation that folks get there next year.

Dunk!

Judge Burdis' corrupt clone tempts Carlos with illegal substances.

Pete Wells

So, Burdis says I am like the Go Compare Man (that's his ring tone for me when I ring  :o ) and Steve thinks I'm the Churchill Dog.

Utter Shitbags!

Yup, it was great wasn't it? Made me childishly happy

When Carlos was walking off at the end of the second day I moved out of his way and said "sorry, Carlos!" and he went "adios, ciao" which for some reason made me incredibly happy. It's the little things - !

Lakes was pleasant and fantastically organised - must have been AMAZING to be a punter at but what I will say is that very few of the people milling around were actually buying comics. A lot of them would walk past openly talking about how they didn't like comics at all - and there were about five cosplayers there. So me and m'neighbours sold skant amounts of product throughout the weekend and there were some bruised egos from those that had travelled far. The man next to me, for example, had come from Holland and wasn't so pleased.

So - lovely weekend, populated by comics legends and brilliant events but I didn't really come out from behind my table and explore any of it - ! Maybe next year or the year after more comic fans will hear about it and start flocking down with the intent of buying comics - but whether it'll be worth the 12 hour round trip or not will be another matter...
