I don't think this is correct for me either, seems a bit of an odd post for a first in a new forum.

QuoteI was told that there was bacon.

"I'm going to my mum's for the day with the girls, there is bacon in the fridge" she said before I left for work on Sunday.

I got home after 12 hours of work spent constantly thinking about the pile of bacon sarnies I would make for my tea, to be enjoyed in an otherwise empty house, accompanied by wine and Playstation.

When I opened the fridge there was no bacon to be found. I looked again as I have a long history of not looking properly but still it evaded me. I even looked a third time, behind all the yoghurt on the top shelf, yet still there was no bacon.

The only other thing I could find to eat was a tin of Disney Princess pasta shapes, so I had that on toast.

My wife and kids returned home soon after, summoned as ever by the "on" button of my magic Playstation. I raised the issue of the Bacon only to be escorted to the fridge and shown the bacon and to be reminded by my wife that I never look properly.

That may not be your first post, but I actually don't think I'd blink if that were a first post on this particular forum.  :D

Reading through a few of my older posts, for a couple of months I was pretty reserved and just getting my footing here...this is the first post I feel I came into my own:

Emperor:

The original TMNT and ElfQuests were magazine sized, so yeah, those were probably the Cartoon Tie-Ins and Marvel Epic reprints. I prefer B&W as the first comic I really got into was the Savage Sword of Conan, but in the States it was the opposite...all the "important" comics (i.e. Marvel and DC) were in color, and only color sold. That is, until the trio of comics I mentioned. All of a sudden, B&W comics were and retailers bought everything, even junk. But it was an exciting time for a kid, walking into a comic store and searching through racks and racks of these crazy books.

I have enjoyed 2000ADs B&W strips lately - my fav being the Necrophim strip. Savage looked great, too.

Thanks for the books mentioned, fellows. I will give them a shot.

Although my opinion Necrophim changed as it went along...

Hello fellow squaxx.

I've been lurking round the board for ages so I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly. I'm always wanting to stick my oar in anyway.

I suppose I may as well tell you a bit about myself:

Started reading tooth around age 8/9. I remember the very first episode of Zenith and I think one of my earliest progs was the one with the Steve Dillon cover that featured Dredd and the Alabamma Blimps. Before that I'd read a massive pile of Titan books that my brother had borrowed off his mate.

Other than tooth stuff here's some other facts about me:

Age: 29

Wage: Shite

Favourite Book: I really getting into Modesty Blaise at the moment - best one so far is A Taste For Death.

Favourite Band: Probably The Smiths but my taste is quite diverse.

Favourite computer game: Punch-Out!

Favourite Dinner: Shepheards Pie.

Favourite TV: Recently Life On Mars, Doctor Who. My guilty pleasure is Ultimate Force - I have all the DVD's!

Ok now I've got all that out of the way I'll feel more comfortable getting my 2ps worth on some of the more meaty threads.

Cheers. James.

That was my first post from 1st April 2006.
I'm pleased to say my wages have improved (what a weird thing to write on an introductory post - I wonder why I did that) but I can't believe I was only 29 when I read all the Modesty Blaise books, I thought it was only a couple of years ago!

I don't think my first posts are here - seems to be a welcome back.

It's just weird going through old stuff but this caught my eye, especially the last post...

I daren't look into my past for too long lest I reawaken the Speed-Dating thread.

From December 2001 in a somewhat macabre thread arguing about which was Dredd's most serious injury and speculating about his eventual demise:

QuoteDredd's most extensive injury was falling into a river of acid and becoming the Dead Man with about 95% burns and no face!

He has also been set on fire at least twice, crucified twice, tortured by Stan Lee's girlfriend, broke a bone in his own hand in the Perp Runners story (in the Mega-Rackets) ... the list goes on and on.

But I think Judge Sadu in Judgement Day takes the record -- arm, eyes, heart and ribs all removed and he still kept going!  What a trouper!

For the record, I think only Orlok is hard enough to take Dredd.  Otherwise some kind of suicide attack is the only option.

Or what would be really odd: if the new Rico judged him...

For some reason the quote function hasn't found the original post so here's a link:

Jesus, yeah, I'd forgotten about that.  I'm all nostalgic for the old board now (though to be fair, the rest of my life was a bit shit at the time).

Remember that old Alan Grant series in megazine volume one. Does anyone have any interest in it being continued or have have any idea how it was to be continued.

It was supposed to be the start of the exploration of the origin of Dredd's world.

Surely that is still tantalising.

Here's my first post, prompted by my finding out about the then mooted Newline film projects. Poor topic choice as it turned out as I was immediately accused of being Scojo by Gordon Rennie and had to have the horror explained to me.

hello, i'm new here and this is my first message. am i the only one who reckons that the new dredd film is simply not going to happen? it just seems so unlikely to me. what do you lot think?

QuoteHello everyone.
It's nice to meet you all.
I'm guessing as this is my first thread I should probably explain my history to 200AD.
Im only 15, and last christmas I was on a coach trip with my school to London.
While at WHSmiths at one of them million or so drive-ins I picked up my second issue of SFX.
Within said magazine was an article on a rather tasty sounding super hero story called, Zenith.
I was hooked on the idea of alternative dimensions and the effects they could have on our own dimension (or vice verse) due to it's role in my faveourite scine fiction (possible favourite TV show full stop), Doctor Who.
So naturaly Zenith sounded rather appealing. I took notw of the comics title and next promptly forgote about it.
Easter this year I was farting around town on a wet, windy day. So I walked into WHSmiths to buy myself a double decker and found myself staring at a rather Jack Sparrow like charactor being lunged at by a grotesque ghost.
I was facinated by this image and purchased the comic fairly quickly (I was in such a rush to get to the content I forgot to buy my double decker!).
So there I was, sitting under the cannopy of the bus terminal, flipping from mega city mutents to a rather attractive picture of two Tyrannosaurs clashing (The young paleontologist inside me was screaming with joy).
However I was rather perplexted. I was faced with a Judge Dredd story that only featured Judge Dredd in three panels, a rather conffusing scenario of cowboys hunting Dinosaurs (Jurrasic park I kid you not!) and a wordless story about a bunch of COD geeks killing some Jewish look alikes.
However, the end of Spartacus Dandridge promised to be replaced by a double bill of some bloke called 'Nickoli Dante'..........Suffice to say I picked up the next issue to see what would come of it, and 18 progs, 4 megazines, and 5 graphic novels (OK OK, 4 of them are floppies :-\) later im still in love with all these new concepts.
So here I am.
Im looking forward to staying here, you all seem like a pleasent lot........... ;)

P.S. A comment at Everything Comes Back To 2000AD rather frequently under the name of Zach Hawkins, im tolled some memmbers frequent here to. Just saying hi. :)

Attila The Stockbroker, he wants to be the Jello Biafra of the UK but is nowhere near as entertaining or intelligent.
