General / Council of Five question

Pop quiz, hotshots!
Was Psi-Chief Ecks on the Council of Five in early 2101, during the time of the Cursed Earth saga...?

General / Judge Anderson's hotdog run
07 July, 2016, 04:06:59 PM
Hullo, all!
Can any Dreddheads out there recall if the story of Judge Anderson's hotdog run has ever been told...?
Can't seem to find any details on this...
Also, what exactly do we know about her parents...? (Apart from the fact that her father was abusive.)
Any pointers appreciated.
Cheers in advance

Haha! I dunno what's going to happen, if I'm honest, guys...
Basically, there's a real band of the band we created for the book.

Events / Realm of the Damned London signing
28 April, 2016, 09:07:36 AM
Wotcha!
For anyone who's been enjoying Realm of the Damned in the Meg, art-droid Pye Parr and myself will be signing at Forbidden Planet London on Saturday 14th May.

Check here for deets: https://forbiddenplanet.com/events/2016/05/14/join-alec-worley-pye-parr-and-sons-balaur-forbidde/

The band are on at 12...
We're on from 1-2pm....

Happy to sign whatever you've got. (No body parts unless still attached to the people they belong to.)

Oh, by the way, big booklet thingy in this month's Metal Hammer: http://teamrock.com/feature/2016-04-26/metallica-kill-em-all-metal-hammer-magazine (The issue with him off Metallica's big scary face on the cover.) Been talking to the Metal press all over Europe and in the US tossing handfuls of 2000AD-love-glitter with every other word. Hope it helps.

Cheers, all

Wotcha!

I got a new Judge Anderson e-novella out tomorrow and it's called 'The Abyss'. I'd show you the cover, but I still can't figure out how you load images onto this drokking thing (I'm clearly not too hot on hyperlinks either), so here's a promo teaser instead...

Psi Division, Quarterly Psyche Evaluation
Subject: Cassandra Anderson.
Date: 2100 AD

"I think I figured out what's been keeping me awake at night, Doc. I made full eagle less than three months ago and I can say for sure there's one thing the Academy can't prepare you for, and that's the level of full-on crazy this city can throw at you. What you see on the crime scenes is nothing compared to what I see in some people's heads – delusions as real to them as rockrete is to us. The Academy taught us not to fall in, right? Don't let the abyss gaze back at you and all that? It's weird. I'm not scared of getting shot. I can tell if a perp's gonna draw on me before he knows himself. I know exactly who's waiting for me around every corner. There's not much chance of anyone ever surprising me. Grud on a greenie, I can't imagine what it's like for Street Div walking into hell every day with just a Lawgiver and a prayer.

"With an edge like ours, it's easy to feel like you're invincible, right? That's why the instructors keep telling you Resyk's full of Psis who thought they were bulletproof. Heh! What they didn't tell us is how many of us will end up in a kook cube by the time we're 40. So here's... Okay, here's what scares me, alright? I'm scared that one day all those voices in the city are gonna get a little too loud, a little too many and a little too real. That there're going to start crowding in until I can't breathe, until I can't tell what's me and what's them. I'm not scared this city will kill me, Doc. I'm scared that one day it might drive me crazy..."

Really hope you like this, guys. I flat-out LOVE Judge Anderson (despite her being the toughest character to write – ever! Dredd is a cakewalk next to writing her. FACT!). I'm really after exploring her unique perspective on the Meg, what she has to deal with, and the conflicts that make her the woman she is – as well as including all the cool stuff like putting her psychic powers to different uses and having her pummel bad guys or shoot them in them face.

Anyways, the e-book's out tomorrow but is already on pre-order and it's only £2.99! I mean, c'mon!

The previous adventure (which you don't have to read in order to dig this one) is called 'Heartbreaker'...

People really liked that one and it's even cheaper than this new one!

Cheers

Wotcha!
The collected misadventures of DANDRIDGE is due to come parping down your digital thrill-funnels on Wednesday 28th October.
Stuffed with extra bits of nonsense from the Doctor's personal archives.
Fancy.
(Will tweet a pic of the front cover as this 'insert image' button doesn't seem to like me.)

I chose the Future Shock route because I didn't know any artists, didn't (and still don't) know the first thing about promoting/distributing my own work, and I wanted to get paid.

And many thanks for the kind words there, White Falcon, but I think success in Future Shocking has more to do with persistence and a willingness to learn. ;)

Um... I got in through the slush pile. Had been writing professionally for a good few years previously, but the Prog was my first pro creative gig. Had nowt else to my name at that point beyond lots of movie journalism.

Done a pretty exhaustive blog about it, if'n you're interested, Nic... http://alecworley.weebly.com/blog/my-future-shock-hell-breaking-into-2000-ad-and-what-i-learned-while-doing-it

I think certain stores were giving it away on the day of release. Info-wise, I found this, but it's all Greek to me... http://gr.ign.com/zombie-army-trilogy-ps4/14906/news/to-komik-tou-zombie-army-trilogy

Cheers, Caroll-bot! And, yeah, weird timing on that Dredd. Had no idea when it was due out.

Wotcha!

Did any of you guys see the freebie comic Team 2000 AD did for this (script by me, art by Ben Willsher and P.J. Holden, colours by Steve Design, letters by Pye Parr and a cover by Luke Preece)...?

Hey, you! Put down that sandwich and listen!

Me and fellow script-droid Al Ewing done stories for this new anthology coming out called 'Sharkpunk'. It's a collection of pulpy page-turners about sharks. Obviously.

Anyways, it's got a bloody awesome cover by Simon Coleby. Specifically, this one...

Hang on.

How do you work the image link on this bloody thing...

*sigh*

Look, just go onto my website, scroll down and you'll find a whacking great picture of it there: http://alecworley.weebly.com/ It's really very nice and definitely worth a click.

The book's got other stories in there as well, mind. I mean, an anthology with just two stories in it would be a bit daft, wouldn't it? Even if you included a quirky biography bit at the end about how you were raised by cabbages and live in a sock in Dorset with your two cats. So, yeah, it's got other stories in there too by Kit Cox, Den Patrick, Jonathan Oliver, Gary McMahon, Andrew Lane, Toby Frost, Ian Whates, Sarah Peploe, David Tallerman, Steven Savile, Josh Reynolds and more. And it's edited by Fighting Fantasy author and historian Jonathan Green (who wrote the pretty much indispensable history of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks 'You Are The Hero' http://www.amazon.co.uk/You-are-Hero-Jonathan-Green/dp/1909679364)

Anyway, the point is we've got a signing on at Forbidden Planet in that London on Saturday 9 May at 1pm, if you fancy coming along.

Something to do, innit...?

So here's the official Forbidden Planet event page https://forbiddenplanet.com/events/2015/05/09/sharkpunk-forbidden-planet/

You can follow @Sharkpunked on Twitter (#Sharkpunk), on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/storieswithbite and the official Sharkpunk blog http://storieswithbite.blogspot.co.uk/.

You can also find out more about my story on my blog http://alecworley.weebly.com/blog/are-you-ready-to-be-sharkpunked.

Cheers.

Now go finish that sandwich before the dog finds it.
