I love the best cover thread! It's another chance to see all those lovely covers from the last year.

The 2000 AD covers of 2022

No voting rules in this one - I like to do a top 3 but TBH I might not even bother counting the votes, so just post any number of your favourites

It was a high standard as ever, with all droids smashing their efforts. Honorable mentions to Tiernen Trevallion's montages, INJ Culbard's Brink designs and of course the ever-astounding work of Cliff Robinson, who is surely due an award for services to prog cover art.

3.

If this was all I ever saw of Skip Tracer, I would love it unreservedly

2.

Some gloriously pulpy, perverse (one might even say provocative) PVC (Proteus Vex Cover)

1.

For the incredible tension and dynamism (and the eyes!)

Trooper McFad

My favs are:

1: Prog 2269 - just love the mean Dredd
2: Prog 2299 - love the meet Dredd in action
3: Prog 2300 - love the take on the characters as Zombies.

Couldn't do the associated pics sorry.
Citizens are Perps who haven't been caught ... yet!

Barrington Boots

For me it's got to be:

1.2302 - I would have had this on my wall at University.

2. 2274 - I love the way the logo is incorporated into this one.

3. 2266 - Stark and straightforward.

You're a dark horse, Boots.

1. Prog 2265 - This feels like those classic movie posters a kaleidoscope of characters

2. Prog 2308 - This is the type of cover that tells me buy me buy me

3. Prog 2302 - Creepy as hell cover

When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Another super tough year with lots of lovely covers. A little surprised one of the Regened covers didn't make the cut as they are such fun but my final list is:

1. Prog 2302 - so creepy and the colours really make it pop.
2. Prog 2274 - Perfectly captures the sinister forboding of the story.
3. Prog 2302 - Just a lovely and clever bit of design.

I will say that a couple of covers might have made the list but some of the tt placement throw one or two off a little. Be interesting to review this list with just the images, but a great cover is the sum of its parts.

Aaah, you can see in the future. Maybe share some lotto numbers with us mere mortals. But I have a more important question: will we see the return of Brass Sun by that time?
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

1. PROG 2302 Loved this since I saw it!

2: PROG 2306 fantastic sense of scale

2: PROG 2265 Just a great composition and attention to detail.

Gotta agree with Tomwe first two choices: that creepy Hope cover really is special, and the scale of the Megaship is an utter marvel.

For my 3rd choice I'm going old-school. I do tend towards covers that I feel I'll be able to remember pretty easily, and I won't tire of a Dredd vs Dredd image anytime soon...

For me, not the best of years covers-wise, especially in the first few months of the year. That said, the three I've picked are among the best of the last decade.

1. 2293 Brink 'Burns Black'. Leaped off the shelf at me. Those colours and that vaguely disturbing strap line.

2. 2302 Hope. What a gorgeous image and design.

3. 2274 Cliff Robinson doing what only he can do 100% successfully.

Prog 2273

Because it's Trevallion at his best.
Because there's no hint of Hellboy about it.
Because of the fag butt floating in the coffee cup.

(And just look at the contrast in texture between the pilot's photo and the Constanta portrait miniature! Look at it, dammit!)
Why can't everybody just, y'know, be friends and everything? ... and uh ... And love each other!

3rd - 2309: Dante's back in the prog! (Not quite)

2nd - 2300: just look at that Ace!

1st - 2274: smart and beautiful, just like me (maybe)
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.
