Nice one, Colin, that looks pretty cool. I suspect the art might put me off a bit, or take some getting used to at least. But your passion for it makes me want to give it a go, thanks.

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 30 May, 2024, 02:02:45 PMThanks for all the constructive criticism, guys. This any better...?

Yup!

QuoteI think maybe the bio-chip stands out too much, now.

Nope!

Thanks Jayzus, thinking about it if it's advent calendar the scene would need to be wintery so would need to do some adjustments, or paint another one (I find it hard work painting though). Would love to see some pics of your murals. I'm sure any Nemesis you draw would be ace.

Painting/drawing in a computer is a dark art to me too, I do like to see examples posted here. Please keep it up Shark!

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 30 May, 2024, 05:28:08 AMThought I'd have a go at the blue guy.

Apologies Sharky, I have some unasked-for advice. For me the eyes' style and brightness contrast too strongly with the rest of the pic. I put my little finger over the eyes and the rest of the image looks really great. Try toning those eyes right down (or even remove them, a darker helmet shadow might do it?). Or tell me to go away, also fine.

I liked the Oz saga but I think it suffered a bit from having too many artists on it. As well as the ones you've mentioned we've clearly got Cliff Robinson, Will Simpson and Jim Baikie, and Dave Elliot and Garry Leach are also listed on the Hachette volume. I say clearly because their styles are so distinctive, so it jars a bit moving from one to another.

It's understandable there are so many artists, as it's a long saga, 26 episodes, and artists have to provide a double page fully painted spread each episode, so we tend to get 2 or 3 episode parts before the next artist comes along. Still, I love the lunacy of the McCarthy episodes, most of the art is top-notch, and the painted spreads are often gorgeous.

It does make you wonder how on earth Carlos managed to do all of the Apocalypse War, and then Necropolis, by himself. Remarkable.

Excellent stuff Boots. Did Si Fraser have some original art to leaf through? If so quite glad I didn't see it, as I too would have been cashpoint bound.

I did leaf through Keith Burns's OA and Simon Davis's, and Mike Dorey's, and Chris Weston's, many great pages in there.

Yes the Dredd is mainly giving us some lore but I don't mind and some great visuals here, particularly the shift into a mainly red palette.

The 3riller also tells us how we got here but does it in a more interesting way, with the shift in perspective as Colin mentioned. Great euro-comic style art. This is a good 'un.

Intestinauts as with the first two strips another explainy one, we find out more about the bizarre Intestinauts company. Bit of experimentation with the art this time, rather than the 'choose your own adventure' of last week. Liking it, fun strip.

Brink nice to see Gita again. And the story's side reason for Lind's presence makes itself known. 7 episodes in and things are building nicely. The recurring theme of golf is pretty funny. Not a lot happens in this episode but it's not happening in a very intriguing and engaging way. There's your strapline!

Proteus Vex another one with mainly exposition. I suppose it's about time we were told what's going on with Vex and it looks like the gang are all going to get together... looking forward to it!

Yeah not quite as good as last week but still good progage. I think the 3riller takes top thrill for me this week.

Kings of the dancefloor!

There was actually some talk amongst these fellows (and Colin too) of hitting the dancefloor but luckily for all in attendance this didn't come to fruition.

If I hadn't been so flipping exhausted I might've! Hopefully next year.

That does look good Marbles. And I'm originally from that part of the world too. Looks like they've had breaks before. This from a local news article before the 2023 one:

QuoteBedford's annual comic-con (comic book convention) is returning to the Corn Exchange this September after a four year hiatus.

And this rather beautiful drawing from Simon Fraser. I find Hershey's expression very interesting, I don't know how he's done it.

A very tidy Dredd from Dan Cornwell. Loving the expression again.

Really great sketches there Colin and Boots. Love that colour work from Boo Cook. And those Simon Davis paintings were a wonder to behold.

Some close ups from an earlier post. Full body Death by Steve Austin. Love the happy expression and the little details around the uniform. Great figure drawing.

I just asked for a Chimpski - PJ decided what to draw. I can see why he'd want to mix it up a bit - I wonder how many he drew all told?
