Off Topic / Hands up, who likes me?
22 December, 2009, 02:28:54 PM
A little bit of nonsense I've been playing on facebook this last week or so...

Pick a TV or film quote. The first person to guess where it's from gets to choose the next quote, and so on. Who's up for it?

The first quote is the thread title - which TV show is it from and what happens next?

Creative Common / Small Press artist(s) wanted!
13 December, 2009, 11:37:16 AM
Last month I had great success from these boards asking for scripts for my Time Travelling, Demon Hunting, Japanese warrior.
Now are there any top notch small press artists out there willing to illustrate them?

If you can email me a sample of your strip work, I'll send you a script that I think would suit your style.

And if there are any pin up artists/colourists willing to have ago at a front/back cover for the next issue of PARAGON, well let's have a look at your stuff - post it here!

Books & Comics / Spandex in the Metro
18 November, 2009, 06:11:35 PM
Did anyone see the freebie Metro newspaper today? Page three had an article on Martin Edens' self published Spandex comic!
How on earth did a small press publication get that kind of coverage?!!

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?Rainbow_warriors_are_new_gay_superheroes&in_article_id=771747&in_page_id=34

Not that I'm jealous in any way. Oh no. :D

Creative Common / Small Press Writer(s) wanted....
04 November, 2009, 08:48:14 PM
Any aspiring writers out there interested in contributing to PARAGON comic?

I have a time travelling, demon hunting, Japanese warrior character who needs a new adventure - if any of you fancy penning a couple of episodes (I have a firm idea for the next chapter, but after that you can fling him to the far reaches of your imagination).

So if you want to see some of your work in print - raise your hand!

Either PM or email me and I'll let you have more details

Film & TV / Blood - the Last Vampire
27 June, 2009, 04:36:38 PM
Live action remake of the Japanese cartoon, billed on the posters as 'from the the makers of Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'

Went to see this yesterday afternoon - and what a steaming pile of shite it was.
That's six quid and ninety minutes of my life I'll not get back.
By 'makers of Hero, etc', I assume it's not the actors, director, cinematographer, fight co-ordinator or choreographer; just the man with the cheque book who financed it all. On the cheap.
At times, it looked like the demon fights were an episode of power rangers filmed in the dark, with a bit of CGI'd gore splashed on to bump up the cinema rating!
Some good British character actors completely gone to waste in this (Colin Salmon, Larry Lamb, couple of others who I recognized but can't remember their names) - I guess they were cheap labour!

Avoid!

Film & TV / Life on Mars
18 January, 2009, 03:04:34 PM
I see the News of the World is giving this away on dvd over the next few weeks.
Think of it as a quid for the 2 episode disc each week with 88 pages of bog roll free...

I was so embarassed at buying the paper, I had to buy Spanking Fetish Monthly just so I had something to put round it as I left the shop
