Richard is joined by The Hod from the 2000AD boards to look through progs 1693-95 and to discuss amongst other things the casting and rumoured script of the new Dredd movie. As always expect non kiddie friendly language and spoilers... of the progs that is, not of the movie script.

Outtro music is "Carry Me" courtesy of Jade Gallagher.

Cheers chaps.

I'm about ten minutes in, and just want to say to thehod: It sounds very likely that the guy 'ripping into' the Dredd script and calling it a 'Die-Hard rip-off' on the Doctor Who forum was 'scojo' - a known oddball (read: actually mentally unstable) with an axe to grind who has been posting exactly the same thing on every single blog, site and message board that covered the news (he has a lifetime ban from here).

The reception to the script elsewhere has been positive pretty much across the board.

Dandontdare

Is the movie discussion definitely spoiler-free? I'm avoiding any discussion of the script and plot, so I'll approach with caution!

BTW - 30 episodes? Well done, quite an achievment for a bunch of shambolic pisshead fanboys! It's always entertaining, keep it up.

There are no major spoilers, but there is discussion of the movie's premise/plot so those wanting to avoid everything might want to jump to 13 mintutes in.

bluemeanie

Here is about the extent of the movie spoilers... in un spoilery wording

I say its Dredd and another character from the Dredd verse, which Im 99% sure everyone already knows is in it. I say why the two of them are together, which again I thought was public knowledge. I also give the premise away in about as much detail as saying the premise of Escape from New York is
"New York has been turned into a walled in prison and a guy has to break in to rescue the president"

Or in spoiler text
I say its Dredd and Anderson. Its her rookie evaluation. And that they get locked in a HUGE city block which is obviously a clever device to get around the "Why dont they just call for backup" question
Oh, I also say its VIOLENT and ARSOM.... spoilers?  :-X

um...yeah.. cant you put any mp3 onto an ipod?
Oh, you mean through itunes?

If you go into itunes and look up Geek Syndicate, then show all available episodes, you'll see all our ones plus a load of others. I'd also recommend Small Press Big Mouth if you have the time as its got The Whittle who stands in for us a lot.

Episode 8 was the best one...

Dandontdare

Thanks Rich, that's not too spoilerific, nothing I didn't alreday know there.

And flip-r, as well as ECBT2000ad and small thingy big wotsit, I can recommed the 'dissecting worlds' series (also on Geek syndicate on i-tunes), particularly episode 1 which was a discussion of law and government in the Dreddiverse.

Ever wondered why they're called podcasts?

But, yeah -- add MP3 file to iTunes, use iTunes to put podcast on iPod.

Cheers!

add MP3 file to iTunes, use iTunes to put podcast on iPod.

Or instead of downloading an MP3 and converting, you can just download it straight from the i-tunes store.

bluemeanie

Or get a bottle of whiskey in and we can just come round your house and slur at you in person!

No conversion required. Just add it to your iTunes library. I don't know where this idea that iTunes can't handle MP3s comes from...

Actually guys I imagine he's just searched for 2000AD on itunes and assumed its not on there and we're all just being sarcastic bastards... you know, for a change like.
Joys of piggybacking on someone elses itunes feed.

flip-r mk2

Duuhhhh, never realised you could download it (never tried actually) as I thought you could only put podcasts(never realised the pod part before Jim) from Itunes on Ipod, Bluemeanie was right when I searched didn't find anything. Thanks for the other podcast suggestions will have to look them up,although the bottle of whisky (especially Bushmills Single Malt) and getting slurred at sounds the best idea.
And for yous being sarcastic bastards , that's one of the reasons I love this board. :D
