Off Topic / Happy Birthday!
« on: 23 April, 2021, 07:57:09 AM »
We used to have a thread for this, but that was many moons ago.

So -- Happy Birthday to Mr Jim Campbell.

Fingers crossed we'll get to meet up in the real world again at some point, most likely Thought Bubble!
Have a great day my friend.

Books & Comics / Zarjaz & Dogbreath - Call for potential reprints?
« on: 08 March, 2021, 01:30:37 PM »

Sometimes a question comes along that just doesn't go away. We've been asked a few times over the years about reprints of earlier issues of Zarjaz & Dogbreath and seeing as the print run is limited I've not really done more than keep the most recent couple of years issues available.

However, we 'do' keep getting asked about older issues so I'm saying here - if there is demand for an issue to be reprinted, then I'll do it.

If you are reading this and there are issues of either Zarjaz or Dogbreath that you want to fill your collection (please bear in mind that I can only print the issues I've published, so no shouting out for the rare as funt Dreddcon specials) get in touch with us and we will see what we can do.

I'm not about to sit and order loads of copies of older issues, but if enough interest is out there I can justify getting a short run made.

Books & Comics / Graphic Nonsense - '80's Fanzine with Pat Mills interview
« on: 07 December, 2020, 04:12:46 PM »
Hi Squaxx.

David Hathaway-Price has been building an online repository of classic 'zines at:
Classic UK Comic Zines

One of the latest finds of his is a 'zine I was involved in back in '88.

Link to the book:-Graphic Nonsense

Reason for bringing this to your attention is that it contains interviews of Mr Pat Mills, carried out by Tony Luke, back when he lived in Manchester and we worked at Odyssey 7 together.

This was before computers, so everything is hand built, so apologies for the typo's.

Events / New competition - Best of 2000 AD #1 - retailer exclusive.
« on: 07 November, 2020, 02:59:56 PM »
We are very pleased to announce that we have a copy of the first issue of BEST OF 2000 AD - the Retailer Exclusive edition.

How do you win this copy of one of the most sought after exclusives? Simple - all you need is a copy of either Zarjaz 38 or Dogbreath 38.

To enter the competition all you need to do is identify the 38th piece of text in a strip in either issue.

Captions or spoken word - SFX do NOT count.

Note - just in case I'm not 100% clear, count each piece of text --

If a balloon is joined to present multiple pieces of text, count each one separately. Therefore there are 6 pieces of text in the example above.

Then simply email in to futurequakepress@gmail.com with the subject header of 'BO2K Competition entry' and write either the line of dialogue or caption that is the 38th in that issue.

The competition is open till midnight November 30th, so as long as your email has a timestamp within that window you are good to enter.

Finally - please note that this is not an official Rebellion competition, it is solely the responsibility of team FQP and my decision is final. Good luck all of you.

Links / Comichaus - The 'Netflix' of indie comics.
« on: 27 March, 2020, 02:21:34 PM »
Fairly sure I've mentioned this before, but Comichaus have just dropped an email with a link to a code to enable the reader to claim a free month of access. This is sweet enough, but combined with the standing offer of two weeks free when you sign-up this will give new users six whole weeks of access to the self proclaimed 'Netflix' of comics.

"Hi Everybody.
Hope you are all staying safe and sane.

Have a free month of Comichaus on us!

We have set up a code to allow users a free month. New users will get a free 14 day fee trial AND the extra month. Small token to help alleviate the boredom of being isolated!

Use code: COVID19 when your current subscription runs out
Hundreds of indie comics direct from creators for you to enjoy :)

Download at your app store = http://www.comichaus.com/app
Amazon/Kindle users download https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/comichaus/apps/comichaus/distribution_groups/public  ."

Self interest makes me tell you that there are a load of top quality comics on there (and even some IDW Dredd, too) and I'm sure many of the creatives have posted here over the years.

It is worth noting that each ‘view’ of a title will result in some funds for the creators – and ultimately this is set to reach those creatives as a thank you for their work on FQP titles.

One for the oven, one for the fridge and one for the microwave!

Hi Squaxx - this is something a little different - ARNIE, the flaming bag of dog-poo!

Now available on comiXology - Arnie is a project by writer Joe Cervelin and artists Jackson Gebien and Denis Pacher. Stating right now that I lettered this, so that is why I'm plugging it.

Arnie is one of the more unusual projects I've worked on in the last couple of years, but it is a fun book that deserves to find an audience.

A direct descendant of the 'underground comix', Arnie appears light and fluffy but there is a heart to the book that is worth finding.

Get it from here on comixology.

News / Game News - Judge Dredd: Crime Files
« on: 21 October, 2019, 03:15:27 PM »
Shameful pasting of a press release:

Judge Dredd dispenses justice on mobile in Judge Dredd: Crime Files
Zarjaz free-to-play strategy adventure RPG based on the popular 2000 AD comic book character comes to iOS & Android.

Independent game developer No Yetis Allowed today announced that its new mobile game Judge Dredd: Crime Files is now available for download on The App Store and Google Play. Based on the iconic Judge Dredd, Judge Dredd: Crime Files brings the future Law enforcer to life using 3D graphics, animated 2D comic artwork and newly recorded voice over to give fans the ability to dispense Justice on the streets of Mega-City One. Developer No Yetis Allowed also developed smash hit Pocket Shrek that had over 6.5 million downloads.
The app has been developed in association with Rebellion, brand owners for Judge Dredd and 2000 AD.
Mark Hardisty, CEO of No Yetis Allowed said “As a lifelong fan of Judge Dredd, it has been an honour that Rebellion has allowed us to bring Dredd into the gaming space. It has been our goal to use artists and writers from the pages of Judge Dredd to craft a game that looks and feels like Dredd from the pages of 2000 AD, which I believe we have succeeded in achieving.”
In the game, players take on the role of Judge Dredd. Using intuitive card battling gameplay, build a deck of iconic weapons and dispense Justice to criminals and perps both old and new. Combining 3D animations with 2D animated comic artwork created by Dredd artists, the player will experience what it is like to be the futures most famous lawman as they fight through patrols and epic stories written by current Dredd writers.
Unlock new weapons such as the Lawgiver MKII, Lawrod and Stubb Gun, and characters like Judge Anderson, Judge Rico and Judge Giant, to fight criminals and perps, from Punks, Juves and Muties, to Robots and Fatties.
Judge Dredd: Crime Files is free-to-play, with plenty of additional content planned post-launch, including further storylines, weapons, enemies, locations and more.
You are the Law!
