Hi all,
Looking for some help.....

I've a great camera, ( Olympus ) which takes great pictures but when I try to post them here, it always says 'Image too big'. ( Original photo is about 580 KB ), I then end up trying all sorts of things, ( copying, mailing it to myself etc ) but usually end up with a small photo, which even when you double 'click' on it still ends up not much bigger...
I've tried re-sizing it but still can't get a decent image.....How do you guys manage to put such great photos on here ??

I don't have any 'photoshop' programmes on my PC ( which is reasonably new ) but have Windows 7 as standard and Media player etc....

Some advice would be much appreciated......

I hate being an IT 'luddite'.......something to do with age, I suppose... :-[
Cheers

It's easier to use an online image hosting service because they resize and format for the web automatically, saving you a lot of hassle.  Photobucket lets you host an image for free, and you can sign into it via a Facebook or Twitter account so you don't even need to register with them.  Their interface is now almost laughably idiot-proof as you can just drag things into your browser, and after that just copy the url from where it says "direct" on the right of the page into your post here on the forum and wrap the img tags around it.

Imgur is a pretty good site to use - http://imgur.com/
Never had any problems with it. You can edit the image using that, for size etc. I usually resize the image im using via Paint, but either way its all good

Once you have chosen your online image host, and posted your pictures to it, then it is quite easy to get them onto a forum thread. In Photobucket, they make it easy for you by giving you the code to insert, but even without that, all your need is the URL of the photo.

So, for example, this picture:

Is posted using the following code:
[IMG]http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/p670/SimeonB1/Comic%20Art/ElsonAHAB_zpse11a58d6.jpg[/IMG

The "[IMG]" tags wrap the photo's URL

Hope that makes sense, Bob

There are even quicker ways if you are on facebook or twitter but only if you've posted the photo required on there already

Right click on your photo and a box pops up.
At the bottom is properties, click on that and another box pops up.
In that you can see the address (URL), copy and paste between the image tags that you clicked on above the smilies and away you go!

Don't enlarge the pic though, just use the initial one on the sites!

Cheers CF !!
Have just opened a photobucket account......Didn't bother posting my photos on Facebook as most of my Facebook friends aren't really into Comic Artwork...
Loved your photos with Lena BTW....Great stuff.
