Well it's definitely not Big Dave.

For which we give thanks.

I read from Progs 356 to 947 and loved it. I think I stopped in that dark period of the early 90s when there was something of a dark period; I remember Wire Heads being one of the strips towards the end, along with Death Race 2000 both of which were bloody awful. I started again with Prog 2014 and am loving my return to the fold.

Nice to hear it's not just men in their 30s and 40s that are buying the comic :)
I gave my son a copy of the first Rogue Trooper story to look at over the weekend as I thought it would appeal to him. His response - "it's about the future and war which is good, but it's in black and white".
He's 9. Kids, eh.

Anyone else still waiting for this Prog?  1900 arrived a couple of days ago but there's no sign of 1899...
Go digital. Problem solved.

It solves one problem, but creates another. The wait until Wednesday can sometimes seem unending!

Now I'm confused. I had a lengthy 2000ad hiatus and missed the whole of Kingdom. Why is it that, if Gene is a dog-soldier as he is described in the Nerve Centre blurb, he looks nothing like a dog? I thought the prog as a whole was the best this year, and the final page was a stunning piece, but I'm scratching my head lots about the dog thing.

I'm currently ipadless for a couple of days. What sort of titles do I have to look forward to when I return to civilization?

I really enjoyed Dredd this week, but it would seem, given that Block Judge is just around the corner, that the baddies are going to be slapped down pretty sharpish. Which is a shame as I think they have the potential to raise important questions about the judicial system in a way that the democracy stories of the late 90s did.

Characters are always resurrectable in comics.

Mark Twain and Kurt Vonnegut in Brass Sun. Who is the other guy?

Kurt Vonnegut? Robert Winston, surely.  ;)

I'm not sure I agree on that one. It's a film with the same lead character as the comic, and there are some points of similarity, but it's far from a straight adaptation.

Did you actually click on that link? I think you're talking about the Nolan/Bale Dark Knight Rises but Link Prime is talking about the animated adaptation of Dark Knight Returns, which is a pretty straight adaptation by all accounts.

Cheers

Jim

Ah. I did click on the link, but the wikipedia page doesn't exist and is just a placeholder with the title so I was none the wiser. Now I am. Thanks.

All but three have been made into movies, so this is pretty much a definitive list.

I count 4. Maus, Jerusalem, Bone and Dark Knight. Which film have I missed?

I'm not sure I agree on that one. It's a film with the same lead character as the comic, and there are some points of similarity, but it's far from a straight adaptation. The comic deals with a much older retired Batman and the plot is very much different. Having said that, if I apply my own criteria LXG wouldn't count for the same reasons (and because it's shit).
