Type the following into Google, then hit "I Feel Lucky". Then read closely (and, in the case of the second one, go for the alternative search).

First up:

"Weapons of mass destruction"

Second:

"French military victories"

These films suffer from "CGI gone mad" syndrome, the bane of modern films

I am planning to invest in a new, bespoke, PC in order to play Doom 3, Half Life 2 as well as a whole host of strategy games that won't work on my 5 year old PC just now.

Any tech-heads got an idea about an ideal spec? Money no object - I can always downgrade but want to know what is considered "top of the range" just now.

What about a graphics card? The last I knew it was all Vodoo, but they seem to have gone. Having done a bit of research I think its a toss up between a Radeon 9800 and a Geforce 5900. What's the best?

And what about AMD processors? Are they the same as or better than Intel?

And should I wait until 64 bit processors come out in the autumn? Or will it be a couple of years until they are stable enough - and cheap enough - to warrant buying?

Presumably he had been there for hours, trying to find his way out, going in circles, muttering "been.. here... BEFORE!"

I tells ya, if you're gonna go futsie, that's where it'll happen!

I have been to the darkest place.
I have been in the pit of despair.
I have been in the maze.
I have been afraid for my sanity, and my wallet.
I have been miserable.
I have been to hell.
I have been to Ikea.

The Man in the High Castle is surely his best work? It came out as a Penguin Classic last year.

Hmm.

I think the whole thing should start again with proportional representation. I prefer 350 and 696, and therefore feel democracy is overrated.

Out of the choices available...

I think 61 is too cluttered and too old school boys comic-y. So,

I think they all look a bit pants, and I voted that way on the poll.

Dredd - from the synopsis, isn't this just a rehash of an old Anderson tale?

Stronts - I am for bringing Alpha back. Don't like these stories set in the past. The wreck continuity and lack tension. The current Rogue Trooper is a classic example of this. Ho. Hum. If he's not coming back, then the strip is dead.

From Grace - looks like A Love Like Blood. Which let me down terrifically. Wonder what the plot is? A devil loving an angel? Surely not?

Slaine. Ho. (Bloody) Hum. See the various threads here. Slaine wanders about killing people then there is a 30s style cliffhanger.

Leviathan. Spose I should reserve judgment. But it's not much of an assault with one maybe!

I had a good weekend in Brussels, Bruges, Maastricht and Luxumbourg. Was in Luxumbourg for their national holiday which was fab; fireworks at midnight and subsidised beer on the streets until 6am.

However, there is a limit to the amount of beer one man can drink, especially when alternated with vodka and red bull. After three nights on the serious piss, I think I need three days off in bed.

I will investigate this phenomenon over the weekend, when I carry out a BenLux tour (Brussels Firday, Bruges Sat, Luxumbourg Sun and Mon, Brussels Monday).

Or, alternatively, I will get bladdered with a couple of school mates and see nothing of note.

For anyone interested, Sunday is the festival of the Duke's Birthday in Luxumbourg.

The answer is, statitically, yes. Can't find a link, but there was an article about this in last week's New Scientist.

The premise is:

Statistically, it is likely that there are a number of advanced civilizations out there, all of whom have the technology to simulate a world - we do just now. It follows that there are more simulated worlds in existence than un-simulated. We are therefore likely to exist in a simulation.
