SPOILERS ahead...

Is anyone else unexpectedly loving Blood Of Satanus in the Meg?  It's so clearly sod-all to do with Dredd or the Dreddverse that I'm quite happily enjoying it on its own, lunatic merits.

By the way, rather than having another (*yawn*) debate about the merits of the script and art droid, let's just devote this thread to celebration of the most insane strip ever to grace the pages of the Mighty Meg.

Tributes, theories, favourite bits of the art - comment on them all below!

Is there any way of copying all the URLs on a page of links?

The page is here - http://www.hanksville.org/NAresources/indices/NAknowledge.html

I want to create a list of every site that this page links to, without having to go through the whole thing manually.  Is there any way of doing this?

One of you is a scumbag!

And the other one... oh, I can't remember, something about your favourite NI football team being losers.  Or something.  Definitely had football in, anyway.

All of which is by way of saying that non-boarder SimonT seems a thoroughly good bloke.

If Russell T Davis and John Byrne had created Judge Dredd, what do you think the strip would have been like?  What do you think this forum would have been like?  Would there be any noticeable changes?

News / A knighthood for John Wagner?
27 February, 2007, 03:55:53 PM
When I did this back in January, I hadn't realised it would take so bloody long for the powers that be to approve the thing, and in fact assumed it had disappeared without a trace.

But I was wrong, so here's your chance to honour John Wagner, amuse Alan Grant, and annoy the hell out of Pat Mills.

Don't forget to spread the word...

Off Topic / Why do I smell so bad?

Must be cos I'm off.

Spending too much time on the interweb is bad for me, so I'm giving it up for Lent.

Putting up a thread to tell people this sort of thing is ridiculously self-important, and I apologise.  But it's like fags - you need to tell people you're giving it up, otherwise you don't succeed.

Happy 30th, 2000AD.

Film & TV / Ideal TV repeats
15 February, 2007, 07:26:21 PM
Our local DVD rental shop has offered to get in any English-language TV box sets we suggest (other than the REALLY obscure).  What would you suggest?  They already have:
Lost
24
Alias
Sex & the City
Simpsons
Family Guy
Blackadder
House

So what would you put together to give you the ideal night of telly repeats?

Help! / Poetic appeal
14 February, 2007, 04:01:54 PM
Help!

I'm meant to be reading a poem called "Love" by Philip Larkin at an event on Friday night.  Unfortunately I've gone and lost the bloody thing.

Does any kind person have a book of poetry and five minutes to copy it out for me?  If you do, thank you thank you thank you, you lovely lovely person.

Please note that it's NOT the same as the rather fruity "Love (Again)", which I'll reproduce here for fun...

Love again: w**king at ten past three
(Surely he's taken her home by now?),
The bedroom hot as a bakery,
The drink gone dead, without showing how
To meet tomorrow, and afterwards,
And the usual pain, like dysentery.

Someone else feeling her breasts and c**t,
Someone else drowned in that lash-wide stare,
And me supposed to be ignorant,
Or find it funny, or not to care,
Even ... but why put it into words?
Isolate rather this element

That spreads through other lives like a tree
And sways them on in a sort of sense
And say why it never worked for me.
Something to do with violence
A long way back, and wrong rewards,
And arrogant eternity.

When I need documents unpicking, proving that the world isn't as wierd as it should be, I turn to Snopes.  But this item proves that, if anything, the world is actually wierder than I thought...

Prog / Erm... S'cuse me??? (1520 spoiler, sort of)
18 January, 2007, 07:10:15 AM
Get your fresh, shiny 1520.  Look at that gorgeous, Amazonian cover.  Ooh, she's got loverly jubbelies, etc etc...

Now, let your eye drift slowly upwards from the tip of Dante's sword, to a point just past the large lady's ear.  Now, right a bit.  Oh look, the box you never look at, the one that says the Prog number and the bar code.

Except - what's that in between the price and the bar code?

Is it Tharg's new tagline?

Off Topic / Comedy Cuts - ITV2, tomorrow (Thursday)
17 January, 2007, 12:48:38 PM
Right, I'll be upfront: one of my best mates is producing it, so there's some bias.

Nonetheless, I honestly think this is one of the funniest half-hours of comedy I've seen in years.  It's a very simple idea.  They've found about 40 of the best comedians on the fringe, and they've got them to be funny to camera.  Not exactly rocket science, but the clever part is that rather than getting the inexperienced comedians to write new material for the screen, the team have instead worked out the best way for them to deliver the material that they do as part of their live act.  You know, the funny stuff that's been honed through years of audience interaction.

Result?  Well, I pissed myself with laughter.  You might, you might not.  But it's only half an hour, it's the first time it's ever been worth using the ITV2 button, and what else are you doing at 10:55 on a Thursday?
