I've heard our Simon called a lot of things in my time but never a "thoroughly good bloke".

Na that's not fair, he has his moments. But he's still a jammy git though, the only "T" not really very interested in comics or movies, ending up lecturing about Comics and Movies.

So does this mean your an academic as well, or did you just bump into him?

I'm an academical type too, though not as employed as him.  Pissed at a conference on Friday, I was seized and dragged over to meet the "other guy who likes Judge Dredd".  A few moments later, a connection to your good selves emerged.

From what I've heard a lot of these conferences are pretty much like Club 18-30 Holidays for Academics.
