Surely this can only be a good thing. I bought the complete original series 'for my daughter' but she struggled to get into it. My son is tryign now but similarly struggling. Maybe this will break them?

I'd say there's plenty of mileage in the DM concept - I never felt the visual possibilities were fully explored, the opening montage with the post-box and the car hinted at a Borrowers-like world that didn't really appear.  And iPatch is a pretty good gag, assuming you don't get sued into oblivion. 

Casting Penfold is obviously going to be the trick.
