Signals documentary 'The Day comics grew up' on YouTube from 1989

http://youtu.be/P9yt_OgoNKo

Came across this while browsing and its a little gem. Compare and contrast the aspirations of the medium then with how it turned out now.

Fantastic interviews with Baikie, Moore, Cam, Goodwin, Byrne etc.

Enjoy  :D

I was fondly mulling over some back issues of the Meg and 2000ad the other day and noticed the magical colouring talent of Chris Blythe in many an issue. Does anybody know what he is currently working on?  The last I heard he was taking up some writing duties along with his colouring.

General / Who and what?
27 January, 2012, 04:25:52 PM
I was fondly leafing through 2000ad's end of year specials for 2000 and 2001 when a couple of panels therein caught my eye.

Cam's wonderful art of the Judge reminds me of a current popular singer (any idea's as to who?).

Mike Mcmahon's panels of the Lawmaster look remarkably like the new Dredd films bike design (could they have been used as a design reference for the new film perhaps?).

Books & Comics / Alan Moores run on Swamp Thing
30 November, 2011, 01:01:11 PM
Dear Hive Mind could you kindly get your collective ectoplasmic brain cells fused together to answer a question? . . .

Which came first, . . .  Alan Moores acclaimed run on Swamp Thing or his profound work in producing Watchmen?

Thanks for expending brain waves and offering feedback on this niggling meditation of mine.

Film & TV / Rango's Spirit of the West
24 July, 2011, 10:52:17 PM
Just watched Rango, a most enjoyable family movie if any of you haven't seen it yet. Could just imagine the 'spirit of the west character' cast in the film as Deadman / Dredd. Industrial light and magic's CGI rendering of Clint Eastwood was superb.

Some of the supporting characters in Rango had a flavour of the creatures in Meltdown Man to, (it'd be great to see a high quality 2000ad CGI animation by a studio like ILM. ...Then I woke up and it was all a dream). :'(

Off Topic / The Thing???
12 July, 2011, 12:39:58 PM
A recent trip to the sea side with the kids uncovered this . . . ? Is it me hallucinating or does it not look like a ticked off Ben Grim as the Thing?

Has anyone else found any comic related characters emerging from fruit, veg or organic material?

Just tried to access the main site and clocked a very exciting message from Thargs crew. Anyone hazard a guess as to what it's all about?

Creative Common / Blue Line
22 November, 2010, 01:12:54 PM
A quick question that hopefully you lovely artistic types can answer.

Will blue line pencil underlays underneath inked work show up once you've scanned it? I believe blue line doesn't show up when photocopied.

Thanks for your feedback.

Any of you lovely knowledgeable lot know the type of ink artists like Bolland and the late great Bellardinelli would use in creating their artwork. Is it available in art shops and at what price? Much thanks for any feed back received.
