Title: Bristol Comics Con
Post by: Aaron Smurf Murphy on 09 April, 2006, 06:20:08 AM
Right lads...

As most of you know the cheap rooms at the Ramada and most other decently priced hotels are already totally booked up. I need a room for Bristol that weekend and am open to idea's and room shares.

Any help or idea's would be great and if you're a small press editor I'll throw in some strip work to the deal.

There is another Holiday Inn/Travel Inn that's about 20 mins walk from the con and it's about ?55 per night. You could try that if you haven't already.
Otherwise you could consider getting a group of peeps together and renting a place for the weekend?

When I tried the Holiday Inn they were charging way more than that but I'll give em' another go.

The peeps things is a possibilty but I've no idea what and where to rent in Bristol for one weekend.

Cheers and lovely.

Hello all.

Who would have thought that the Wembley delay would have had a knock on effect on the Bristol Comics convention!? Bloody football...

I'm fortunate to live in Bristol and just have had a look through the local phone book for small B&B's/Guest houses that are close to the venue.

Not sure what availability is like, but I think the prices should be reasonable, certainly cheaper than the hotel chain prices.

The following are all on the A4 Bath Road (about 20minutes walk from the convention site/train station or 5 minutes in a taxi).

Arnos Manor Hotel 0117 971 1461
A4 Hotel 0117 971 5492
Rockdale Guest House 0117 971 2831
Kensington Hill Guset House 0117 977 6566
Woodstock Guest House 0117 987 1613

The following are all on Coronation Road (again about 20minutes walk from the convention site/train station in the other direction or 5 minutes in a taxi).

Glanville Guest House 0117 963 1634
Avonside Guest House 0117 966 4544
Alpha Guest House 0117 966 3215
Camden Guest House 0117 923 1062
Raglan Guset House 0117 966 2129

Hope this helps anybody who is struggling to obtain a room.

Cheers!

Necro Thread Alert!

Instead of starting a new thread (I've hi-jacked this generic one), I was wondering if any would be up for a mini Hell-Trek to the 2011 con. I'm willing to drive a minibus again and obviously it'll be from Maidstone to the con but I am prepared to meander a bit! It would be a Friday afternoon trip with a Sunday night return.
If there are only a few interested I'll use my car and up to five in total can squeeze in!

I know it's a long way off but I thought I would put out some feelers  ;)
