I thought it was pretty clear last week that a bash on Dredd's helmet had knocked out his comms.

Quote from: BPP on 01 March, 2024, 01:08:41 PMThat angle was never from a rooftop tho.
I can't quite figure out Maitland's position here. Given that we see the (incredibly fast moving) bullet's trajectory, she must already be falling backwards when the bullet hits her. I guess it's artistic licence, showing the shot and the resulting fall in one frame.

I thought she'd probably cop it at the end of the story, but not so unexpectedly. I'm guessing Domo goes free, Glenn wriggles out of it somehow, Hernandez gets taken down by Dredd, and maybe one or two sectors continue to run the experiment, which gets quietly forgotten over time.

That was Major Domo? Only just realised from reading comments above. Initially I just thought it was some random that had been let out for some unspecified purpose, as we couldn't see what was in the case. It was only at the end of the episode that I realised he was the shooter, which I guess made the big event even more of a shock to me as I didn't see it coming.

Defunding the judges - what does this mean in practice? It's not like they get paid, they just need feeding and housing; and short of forcibly sending a load onto the long walk, I don't see how you could reduce numbers. So are they cutting back on Lawmasters, H Waggons, ammo?

Other Reviews / Re: Which thrills have you skipped?

I used to skip Beck and Kawl- somehow I found it unreadable. These days I always read everything, though I skim stuff I don't like, such as Enemy Earth. I've also found DeMarco a bit of a struggle in recent years.

It's always been SLUFF Feg, surely? I've never imagined it any other way.

Not read it yet, but just wanted to say it's great having it so early - last year it was late January when the Xmas prog arrived!

Atavar? Holy cr*p, I've been wanting this for years! I was always disappointed my collected edition ended after series 2 (from Tharg's annoying habit of collecting books in two's, which always bollixed up series with an odd number).

I always assumed that most regular progs are bought either by subscribers or completists, which includes the Regened progs. So if you add in those that buy regened only, of course the numbers will be higher. If you took the prog number off and made it a quarterly special, I doubt sales would be so high (I wouldn't buy it).

There must be a word for the excitement you feel when you find a Saturday prog on the mat, immediately followed by the disappointment when you realise it's a subscriber's contractual obligation regened prog.

I was grinning from ear to ear when I turned the page on Azimuth, even if it had always been a possibility. Even if it's not yet clear what's going on, having an AI world in the context of SinDex's ongoing storyline makes complete sense. Plus I worry about Dabnett having too many stories on the go at once (not that he ever compromises on quality) so I'm happy to see this as a SD interlude rather than yet another long running serial that might crowd out more Out, Brink, Kingdom (we can dream!), Grey Area etc.

Case Files approaching Origins means either:
1. We're getting seriously caught up with the modern stuff now!
2. Origins was actually ages ago and it just only feels recent to an old duffer like me.

Any subbers still waiting for this? No sign north of the border.

General / Re: 1500 old progs to charity

OP here. I've just come back from a week's holiday, and I hadn't given any thought to all this until I just saw the replies here. It's a little sad that the progs are gone, but I think I'm glad they're no longer there, lurking unread, and I'm so pleased they've gone to charity - even at pennies per prog they should bring in a fair bit. I'm trying to declutter generally, though my one in one out book policy is failing miserably!

Just two of my 5 or so Nemesis collections remain (Deviant and Heresies), FYI!
