Conrad and Fox,
I enjoyed the Case Files collection no. 5 over the weekend especially when Conrad said something along the lines of:

(loud voice) and The Dark Judges are defeated for ever!!
(fast disclaimer voice) Judge Death with return in 1985

Gave me a chuckle lol

now listening to "I am the Law" by The Human League

Enjoying your recent episodes!

Listened to the Dredd Mega-Special issue today - man, if I ahd remembered how much I love Juves in the Hood I'd have put my name down!

The artist is pseudonym and does reappear using his real name Edmund Bagwell, sadly departed. I adored his art and patiently waited for more Dredd from him.... sadly not to be, though his future work for the Prog will be just as impressive when you get to it, Conrad.  Just an amaing style, at a time when the Megzine in particular could have done with a solid artist - I reckon he could ahve been that Era.s Cam Kennedy or Jock.

The Red Razors is just horrible misogynistic pap that thinks (to be fair, like  lot of other media at the time) that referencing better things in a vaguely sneery way is great - like eating the meat of the tiger makes you strong, sticking a Fawlty Towers reference in means the strip gains its powers....

Raymond and Hefner - the Raymond is Paul Raymond, Britains top pornographer of the time - Steve Coogan  played him in the film The Look of Love:

Oh lovely to have you back here. I was beginning to think you were ignoring us. The new episodes have been as glorious as ever, but the 'Judgement Zone' adds a whole new level to the fun.

So have you made plans for Space Spinner Live since you are coming our way???

Really finding the take on 'Swimming in Blood' fascinating. I think its John Smith second 'complete' work (after New Statesmen in Crisis.) By which I mean all the stuff before those two had real highs and elements that made them sing and great. But other elements that didn't quite work so well. There was some brilliant stories in his earlier works but for me New Statements and Swimnming in Blood are the stories that move John Smith from - Wow this bloke is great - he's really going somewhere - to WOW THIS BLOKE IS AMAZING - HE'S AMONGST THE VERY BEST 2000ad HAS TO OFFER (AND COMICS COME TO THAT)...

... so yeah the time John Smith goes all caps then I guess!

I've always read Devlin's laconic style as his coping mechanism. Its not that he's so relaxed and laid back, rather he's terrified and this is how he copes.

Fantastic Podcast(s) as ever Conrad.

No firm plans made yet, but it would be silly to not figure things out!

Having just listen to Conrad's and Fox's wrap up on Kola Kommandos I'm going to stick my neck and say I actually like it. Here's what I said on a recent(ish) re-read

QuoteKola Kommandos to be honest never gets the dip I seemed to remember. It remains reckless and immense fun. I really enjoyed it, which is not to say its good. Its not, its a mass of problems and silly ideas. Its also a mass of themes and good ideas. And somehow it works really well at the same time as dying on its arse... and I loved it!

Its really hard to disagree with anything C&F say about the strip, they are right... but as is the glory of the diverse opinions held in 2000ad fandom ... whatever it is there will be some folks who love it and some folks who don't get on with it and those subjective divergences are one of the things I love most about us minions of Tharg.

For sure! I can't stress enough that Fox and I's opinions are in no way guaranteed correct or definitive. Honestly one of my favorite things about the podcast now is sparking discussions about thrills that have otherwise gone unremarked upon for many years!
