Events / MCM Dublin comic con
07 April, 2014, 09:42:01 PM
12-13 April. Didn't realize it was this soon.
Guests include Glenn Fabry, Simon Bisley and John McCrea. I've never been to an MCM before and heard a lot of mixed things about them, but I'll probably be going on the Saturday and have a look.

General / Gavinating
09 December, 2013, 11:50:36 PM
Quote from: Mike Carroll on 09 December, 2013, 03:54:23 AM

Hmm... that's got me thinking! Suppose we ALL did a little Gavinating? Say we pick a particular issue - the next jumping-on prog, maybe - and we all buy an extra copy and leave it somewhere to be found by someone who's likely to appreciate it? C'mon - let's do it! Who's with me?

-- Mike

There appears to be some interest in this on the Advent Calendar comments thread, so I decided to get the ball rolling. If anyone wants to take part, I think Prog 2014 would be a great place to start. Remember to include a little note and take a picture if possible.

General / New 2000ad blog, your help needed!
01 March, 2011, 01:26:58 AM
I'm currently, in the process of creating a new 2000ad blog and I really do need the help of everyone on the forum. One of the best things about conventions, apart from the drinking, is the sketches. This is the purpose of the new blog, a showcase of everyone's sketches.
So if you got some sketches of 2000ad characters or by 2000ad artists, I would greatly appreciate it if you could email them to me or send me a link to there location. Please include a little information about them too, so I can add it to the blog.

General / An Irish border meet up?
21 December, 2010, 08:22:38 PM
The Scots have done it, the English have done and now I think it's about the Irish borders have a try at it.

So is there anyone out there that's up for a meet up, a few drinks and a bit of a chat in Ireland at some point in the New Year?  No idea of a location yet  just checking if there is interest first.

Books & Comics / Must read comics.
27 November, 2010, 05:34:23 AM
With the unhappy reaction towards, Empire's The 30 comics you should be reading, I taught that this forum could come up with a much better, more compressive list. So pick your top 15, in order if possible and after a few weeks I'll sort out a final list.

Here's mine:
1. Judge Dredd:  America
2. Watchmen
3. Halo Jones
4. All Star Superman
5. From Hell
6. Fables
7. Batman: The Long Halloween
8. Nikolai Dante
9. Batman: Year One
10. Maus
11. Superman: Red Son
12. Judge Dredd: The Pit
13. Powers
14. Ghost World
15. The Walking Dead

Off Topic / A move to the Radback
15 April, 2010, 01:25:41 AM
As some of ye know, I'm heading off to Australia Saturday morning. I'll be gone for for about a year, but this will depend on the work out there. With work very quiet here at the moment and my last job finished when management decided that the lab was no longer needed. I am hoping that there will some more opportunities in Australia and a change of scenery will be nice too. I'll probably be off the board for a while, but I'll make an effort to drop by once I'm somewhat settled.

Fallowing on from the Favourite moment... thread where I showed the Glen Farby Sláine I have painted on my wall I decided to show my other walls and sealing all 2000ad related.

Bad Company

Shimura

Dredd

I believe this was taken from a Mean Machine Angel story.

My cousin did a similar thing by painting  images from the album goo on his wall.

General / Puntastic
05 March, 2008, 11:12:46 PM
What is the best pun that has ever featured in 2000ad. Either on the cover, a character, a series or story. be it Tsar Wars, Unamerican Graffiti, Eurotrash, Dredd, (Sláine if it is said that way) Canon Fodder, SAM SLADE, Never Mind The Bullocks, Scales Of Justice or Button Down these are just some that have come to mind.
