Prog / Re: Prog 1636 : Smile..its the law

I am enjoying all 5 strips at the moment, and that doesn't happen very often. Normally I only like 3, maybe 4. I am even enjoying Savage for the first time ever.

Who thought it was odd to read [spoiler:3hvkmmk2]a Pat Mills character openly praising Pat Mills' Margaret Thatcher-a-like[/spoiler:3hvkmmk2]? It must have been strange for someone like Pat to write that... It shows that Savage certainly isn't a part of Pat!

I like Cradlegrave, but I hope it gets going soon. I do like slow build-ups, but this one has used up all of its allowance and must get going next prog.

Welcome to the board / Re: Oheesashiburii

Hello Mr Kermode.

You and I had a few letters published in the same progs, back when you were at your most prolific. I think I may have even had a couple printed from when I was in Japan at the same time as you and landed up with two letters in that prog from Japan.

I never reached the same level of publication as you though. I think there was one month where you had a letter each week and scored a higher word count than John Wagner and Tharg combined!!

I've never seen the boards looking like this!

I've not posted on 2000ADOnline for several years. I enjoyed it for a while, then the board went through a funny phase just as my life changed massively too, so I stopped coming here. I didn't stop reading my progs though.

Anyway, hello. I never posted much anyway, I don't think, mainly lurked, so I doubt I am remembered.

How can anyone slate the original?

Okay, there has been a lot of suckiness since the original, but the original ruled.

Well, I own the graphic novel, but I wondered what the copyright repurcussions would be.

I could have just done it without telling you and you'd have been none the wiser.  Trouble is sometimes, seeing as this is Japan, the World Capital of Petty Bureaucracy, people have a way of asking awkward questions about copyright.  (They'd have a fit if they knew about one little thing I've done, but don't worry, it doesn't involve 2000AD at all)

I teach English at a High School in Japan, and was wondernig, what permssion do I need to use photocopies of Halo Jones in lessons, who would I speak to to get it, and is there any likelihood of getting that permission?

Cheers.

Hey it's football!!

winding up other countries is what it is all about!

Anyway, the French who have played in England recently have not exactly given your country a great rep you know...

Le Beouf (sp?), Anelka, Petit, Vieira...

All moaning about how they are so great, never cheat, never foul, and then being twice as bad as the people they complain about...

Don't worry though Christophe, I don't post here very often, and even when I do I am very tolerant of France in non-footie threads.

In fact, this is the first footie thread I've seen here.

I have pretty much stopped posting here 'cos it is frustrating that I get 2000AD well after the rest of you as I live in Japan.

But I had to come and tell you about this incredible site on Charley's War.

Maybe someone hsa posted it in my absence, but anyone who remembers Charlie should go here, plus there is a short interview with Pat Mills that might interest you all.

It brought back some memories I can tell you.  I've also been remembering some other old faves from Eagle and Battle - I had completely forgotten Johnny Red until today - I now remember him him having a Russian sidekick who I recall as a bit of a Wulf clone, plus strips like Doomlord from Eagle.

Anyway, go check out this site.
