I was recommended this album by some friends a while back and forgot to check it out, but it featured on the newest episode of James Acaster's music podcast so I stuck it on Spotify and.... ho boy! This is a cracker of an album! It's described as "what if American slaves had embraced Satan instead of Jesus?"

Anyone familiar?

It's been raved about in the extreme music press and elsewhere, and it's a hugely original project - a brilliant idea. On a subjective level, I couldn't quite get into it though, but certainly worth a try for the adventurous.

Absolutely loved it - the follow up didn't really do it for me though, just didn't seem to have the spark that the first album did.

YEah I checked it on spotify a couple of months ago. Certainly interesting and some real high points did not capture me enough to put it in my collection. But might give it another go as it is praised highly here.

Give the second album a listen, too. I checked it out and probably liked more tracks from it, though none as much as the one I linked above.

I discovered this the other week. We play Fip while trying to get toddler to sleep and i have to try and remember key words from anything i like to try and find it again. The live album is pretty good.

On a different, but equally satanic tack is Morning Pageants by Delmer Darion, it's an industrial tinged folk record about the devil being banished from the imagination. I've found it weirdly haunting and bits are strangely lovely and i've been flipping between that and Devil is Fine.

Apologies for necro-post. I'm trying to avoid getting sucked into the horror of the news.
