That is superb news! Quite a few I've skipped in this extension so far, but I'll be picking up all three of these! Very, very happy that I'll finally get to read the end of Kingdom, and I've been suggesting a Machine Law volume since the first extension was announced!

D'oh! That's the one.

I know you've already bought the Absalom trades, Gizmoduck, but I feel like I ought to point out that you can get the entirety of the Caballistics/Absalom saga - in hardback, and including the 'Graduation Day' epilogue - for a mere £30 from Hachette...

It's an unfortunate fact that the final story - Training Day - is not included in the final trade! Maybe the epilogue will clear some things up for you, if you can track it down.

Also worth mentioning that the strip is actually a spin-off from Caballistics Inc. That was where Absalom and his 'lads' first originated. Luckily you can get the whole of Caballistics in a single, big door-stopper collection.

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 27 March, 2023, 03:32:28 PMPat Goddard drew some awesome flying vehicles recently in Working Girl but I have to confess I'm not sure if they're H-Wagons or not. That's the coolest one that springs to mind...

Edit: This one

That's a Manta Prowl Tank. H-wagons are blockier and more functional-looking.

Yep, I'm now here a fraction of the time that I used to be, and that's all because of the loss of 'Active topics.'

Please, please, pleeeeeeease get it reinstated.

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 22 March, 2023, 11:16:09 AMI wouldn't be surprised on this either although I never made the connection: I just assumed Charley was picked as a common name to further highlight the focus of the strip on a common man.

Going off on a bit of a tangent, but someone might find it interesting - many names in Charley's War come from Frederick Manning's Her Privates We - the main character is Private Bourne (same surname as Charley), the Sergeant is called Tozer (same as Old Bill) and there's even a Weeper, too. I've never known Pat acknowledge this, or even that he's read HPW, but it surely can't be coincedence. I've always assumed he read it as part of his mountains of research and unconsciously lifted some of the names.

Quote from: Max Headroom on 04 March, 2023, 02:07:27 PMI have just been looking as to what will make the final cut in the forthcoming 'Dredd/Anderson' edition...

By my reckoning, this is just too much material for one volume and something will have to be omitted.

Not sure where the concern comes from - it'll be a chunky book, but can easily include the lot.

Top of the World, Ma-Ma - 6
Underbelly - 30
Uprise - 50
Dust - 50
Furies - 30
Anderson: The Deep End - 20
Anderson: Judgement Call - 10
The Dead World - 52

for about 250 pages

Con-temporary...?

Yeah, that isn't a volume I'd have thought to put together, but it's going to be a nice little collection.

Oh, nice! Looks like Snow/Tiger will also have Bendatti Vendetta (Morrison/Burns). Not sure why Abnett and Sullivan are on the cover though...?

Quote from: sintec on 28 February, 2023, 11:59:59 AMI guess it stalled when John Smith stopped writing for the prog

Yes, exactly that. Smith was never the most prolific writer, even before he parted ways with Tharg.

Such a shame, it really had the legs to be a regular. Inspector Strange's first appearance was in the Devlin Waugh story Vile Bodies, if you're of a mind to track that down. Otherwise... that's it!

No disrespect to Ben Willsher - his character artwork isn't the problem - but I think it's an absolute mess. Like a placeholder knocked up by the work expierience kid.

Quote from: sintec on 21 February, 2023, 11:04:21 AMThe Middenface book is far better than I was expecting it to be. Tbh after the 3 Strontium Dogs volumes I didn't have particularly high expectations for it at all. Turns out it's far better than most of the SD strips in those books. It's a great mix of humour and action with a few serious moments and some superb art. You can tell the creators are enjoying themselves. This book is the surprise hit of the 2nd extension imo, if you're cherry-picking and skipped it you might want to reconsider.

It was always a bit inexplicable to me that the Young Middenface stories were never collected. Looking forward to this long-overdue volume.

The penultimate story was missed from this collection - does the book still read okay without it, Sintec?

Oh, fantastic! I actually picked up Guatemala in a recent webshop sale, but haven't even opened it yet. That'll learn me!
