I'm an old school 2000ad fan (since March 77, except for a short break in the 80') and decided to pay this place a visit, great site, interesting items, downloads... but what on earth is this specimen "death monkey"? sorry to be negative with my first post, but I'm a member of several other net forums and they all seem to have similar smart ar*e characters, just curious.

Great site otherwise

Thing is Ed, you don't mind if i call you Ed do you, this site appears to have more than one of these characters :D

Alan! - Another "old Schooler" who knows just what you mean :)

Thanks, I "may" just stick around, but as someone mentioned on an earlier posting, it ain't good when a site like this is high profile, and will no doubt get higher with the forthcoming merchandise, moviers etc, perhaps there's a distinct lack of girl/boyfriend/socialising problem here.

And yep "Ed" is fine!

" it ain't good when a site like this is high profile,"

I agree with you there, Ed. Death Monkey 23 is pretty offputting to newcomers to the board who want to talk about 2000AD.
Once you've been here a while and realise Death Monkey posts are rarely interesting or relevant to 2000AD they're fairly easy to ignore.
Death Monkey 23 has said that he or she is 14 years old, which is why I merely record the personal attacks directed at me instead of responding to them. I've got quite a collection now.

Anyway Ed,  'old school 2000ad fan', lets put the negativity behind us. What floats your 2000AD boat from prog 1 to 1270?

Nathan McGuffin.

Yikes, that's some question, lol.

Well I'm a major Dredd head first and foremost, so although I follow the rest of the strips they are (no disrespect here) secondary to my weekly Dredd fix, I've never been a fan of things like Slane, Halo Jones etc but I rarely pass a strip by (except the Soul Sisters), Harlem Heroes, Button Man, early Robo Hunter, there's numourous others locked in my head!

As for Dredd it has to be the dark Dredd classics, like Jonni Kiss, Better The Devil You Know, (random choices here) and any stories that dig deeper into his world, where there's more to it all that "just" shoot em up element we love Joe for, I felt a bit unsatisfied with the Helter Skelter (although the sly Ruskie shot to the head was classic!).

I own an unused original Ezquerra cover sketch for one of the Apocalypse War Titan reprints, and the Original artwork from 2000AD Prog 17 by Ian Gibson where Dredd shoots "Call Me Kenneth",

I also painted a Dredd mural in Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hopsital (published in 2000ad's Input around two years ago) which formed part of the Offical World's Longest Mural, so Dredd is a big part of my life.

I'm very tempted with the new Dredd figure itself...too near Xmas!

Hope that answers your question!?

Sounds cool. Don't suppose there are any pictures of this on the web? Or the unused Ezquerra cover? (both sound like stuff the web site might be interested in)

I've no pics on the web, but it'd be no problem to scan them in and send them if there's address for the fans here, (still finding my way around here!)

Wake

If you send me a high res scan of your part of the mural (up to 650 pixels wide) I could put it in the Fan Art section.

I'll certainly do that, I'd heard about your zine many moons ago and have to confess never followed it up, and sent for copies, I will check it out!

Thanks
