Long before he helmed the Dredd movie, Danny Cannon sent in his design for a Dredd film poster and it was published in an issue of 2000 AD - but what prog?

[I know, it was reprinted in the first issue of JD: LotF, but I'd like to see it in context of the original prog.]

Bueller? Anybody?

Sorry, that was the runners up.  It was an 89 annual, sp presumably it was in a 1988 prog.

Sorry :p

Prog 534 and also listed on Gordon's http://www.2000ad.nu/classof79/letters/green_dude.htm" target="_blank"> Letters to the Green Dude.

I go to boxes, check through my back progs - 529, 530, 535, 536, 537...

ARRGGGHHH!!!!!

Sigh. Could some kindly person with far too much time on their hands scan the relevant page of Prog 534? Either email me a jpeg or post it here, whichever is easiest.

I know what the poster looks like, I'd like to know what the captions and context are...

The winning entry and three runners-up are in prog 555, there's some other runners-up in the 1989 Judge Dredd annual.

None of them are by Danny Cannon, though...

Oh, I see - not actually part of the competition after all, then...

As all my 2000 AD's are literally two metres away from the scanner in the office, that's no hardship. So: check your (Hotmail) email!

In context, that is even more of a coincidence!

I seem to recall an interview where Cannon claimed he had imagined Fred Dryer as the star for his poster (he has a big chap who did a decent enough Eastwood impression in the TV series "Hunter").  I seem to remember that there was one featuring Dryer, but presumably, that one was by someone else?

Thank you, IndigoPrime - you're a gem! As is the Amstor Computer.

"I seem to recall an interview where Cannon claimed he had imagined Fred Dryer"

I remember thinking much the same thing as a kid, watching 'Hunter' ... there's a moment in the first series (and even as a kid, I remember that the second series became distinctly cuddlier in tone) where villain-of-the-week ended up taunting Hunter because he had a couple of dozen sticks of dynamite strapped to him.

Hunter picked him up and hurled him out of a three-storey window.

Now that had a definite Dredd vibe to it ...

Cheers!
