Leatherjack was fine, if a bit silly (giant scissors as the spaceships of old ladies).

Chiaroscuro was on a higher plane of existence.

They're also punting a "Don't worry! Boris is going to get to the bottom of this!" line.

(Which, yes, is more scapegoating.)

Two gladiators battle it out! Madoc Blade vs. Black Hawk!

Blackhawk yells "Look out, Madoc - there's a Kraakhan Fear-Beast behind you!" Madoc, rather dim-witted, glances around, leaving the way open for Blackhawk to skewer him through his mouth grille. As his life blood pumps out onto the stadium floor, his motorized pizza-cutters grind slowly to a stop.

Ghordle and, indeed, mardle.

With Max Normal, I struggled to withstand the rapid fire chitter-chatter: not light, not a smatter, but rather the latter. My vote, note it's not rote, flies high for Lilly Mackenzie.

Kingmaker ... I did however struggle with the storytelling and it took me a couple of passes to get what was going on. This isn't something I associate with Leigh Gallagher's art so that really surprised me. Was it just me?

It wasn't just you. I really enjoy Kingmaker but I couldn't make head nor tail of that fight sequence. From "KILL HIM!" on the second page to "HE'S GONE!" on the fourth, I don't have a good sense of how the battle played out. Oh, wait - I think I have it now! Yeah - the guy he headbutt's he then uses as a meat-shield, before chucking it into the evil guy's exploding magic ball of doom, which takes the brunt of the blast.

How nature dude then manages to bugger off and get to the insect ship is glossed over.

If you want to read the [paywalled articles], just use a 12ft ladder...

I love that.

Nobody should ever announce anything until it's entirely 100% complete. That goes for humans, as well - so, if your brain hasn't fully formed yet, you shouldn't be posting. Just FYI.

It was all cool when I was reading it in Martha Washington Goes to War.

Oddly, I ended up marrying a Martha, in Washington.

Some powerful interviews on Channel 4 News yesterday from people who suffered while Number 10 partied. Yet, there are still plenty of folk tugging the forelock and defending their betters for quaffing champers while the plebs either toed the line or were fined for crossing it.

Where's Bear and his guillotines, when we need them?

The first ever Tharg's 3riller (that didn't even realize it was one) vs. the GI-teasing hospital in space that's somehow a perpetual war zone ...

... it's gotta be Mercy Heights, innit.

(Perhaps if there'd been a sequel: Go-Go Machine?)

I have started to seriously consider my position in the US. It feel's like a coin flip at the moment between a fairly liberal society with some deep-rooted issues and a fascist dictatorship - depending on how the Republicans manage to fix the voting laws before the next election.

I think if they win it, by cheating, then they'll just change the laws even more so that they remain permanently in power. It's what Trump was trying to achieve last time - and he managed to get secret police onto the streets of Portland and almost managed to enact mob rule.

So - do I scarper back to Scotland and try to persuade my family to come with me? Or do I buy a gun to defend myself when the civil war happens? Or write a book about the madness of people who are trying to usher in a new dark age, before being executed by the new regime?

Probably just go for a walk...

There's so much evil loose in the world right now and this is the focus of attention. To me it's just theatre, an emotional distraction from things that can't be talked about.

Dear Points of View: why-oh-why do people insist on talking about politics on The Political Thread?
